You want your cranking battery as close to your starter as possible. And Chris is right. Get the vehicle up to par and if the battery doesnt fit right, get the right oe fit battery first and THEN wire a second battery back there.
Or, you can ignore all that we've been trying to tell you and just do what you want but that alone may not take care of your issues. On a diesel, cranking power is not the only thing you need to worry about.

I bought a 1997 civic EX manual coupe with a spun bearing and a locked up motor. After a week and a half search, I have not been able to find a y8 but rather a y7 from a local junkyard for a good price with a 90 day warranty. I am not interested in modifying this car, but flipping it, and random muggles on craigslist will not care if it has vtec. The original intent was to use the y7 bottom end and the y8 head, but I don't want to go to the trouble of taking the head off if the y7 is good.
Can I use the y7 head and block in an EX without throwing a check engine light? I assume if I use the DX ECU, it wont be searching for vtec oil pressure signal and wont throw a CEL, can anyone verify this for me. Thanks! [/INDENT]

The process is simple really for fixing cracked plastic - just grind a "V" into the cracked area and then with a soldering iron w/ plastic weld tip on it just heat up the plastic welding rod and push the molten plastic into the aforementioned "V" making sure to heat(melt) the original material as well to blend it all together. I'm assuming the same process would be required for a new construction custom holding tank like you need as well.
If it were my project I'd give it a try myself, but since it is someone else's I wouldn't feel comfortable doing this.
