We just got done ripping off my manifold, and it was being held on by 2 bolts when there aresupposed to be 6. We det in on a straight piece ov metal and came to the conclusion that its warped horribly. I am looking to buy a new manifold, or buy a DSM manifold that will make this 14b project much easier, since I need a new manifold anyways(or waste $$$ getting it planed). I have a 14b that will be given to me to used for as long as I want, free of cost. I really can't pass it up, considering I'm running out of money. What FMU did you find you could use. I'm having trouble finding one.Everyone on Probetalk and cardomain with 1st gen gts uses an adams fuel chip, but i dont just want to chip, I want to do it right.

The main problems were the orientation of the turbos are different (14b faces passenger side), the exhaust manifolds (3-bolt for probe/Mx), and of course the oil and coolant lines are all different. Most 13g/14b's in good shape go for around $100-250. But considering the massive amounts of work that need to be done to fit it, It would be more cost effective to buy a new upgraded turbo for it.

The old MX-6 5-spd we had was purchased for $700. It had 282,000 on the clock on was very nice except for all maintainence items like brakes, broken corner lens (shocker), needed tires and the correct radiator. After about $600 of radiator, brakes, plugs, wires, fuel filter, etc. We installed a 1g BOV, 3" turbo back exhaust with cat, boost gauge, and open element air filter. Advanced the timing a few degrees and first pass at the track was a 14.6 at 98mph. Not bad for a tiny turbo at only 8-psi and a nasty slipping original clutch. I figured with a good ACT clutch, upping the boost to around 14-16psi. max, and some good driving, an easy 13-sec 1/4 would have been in reach.

So I wouldn't consider the 14b swap unless you plan on really getting serious with the car in which such mods would justify it. Ie, a much bigger turbo in the future, etc.
