<![CDATA[Re-Introduction]]>Ok, most of the regulars here know me but I'll re-introduce myself to the group so the newer members can find out a little more about me.

I have been involved in automobiles for about 14 years starting with car stereos back in HS. In '94 I went to Mobile Dynamics in Toronto, Canada to advance my knowledge of various installation techniques. Shortly after graduating from there I worked (briefly) for Northwest Audio until a job offer was extended to me by Stereo West in Williston, ND. I worked there for one summer and decided that the owner and I had some serious differences in what I should be paid for doing installs (I was making like $7/hour doing full fiberglass trunks and kickpanels.....not worth it...but anyways). I started doing stuff on the side just to keep from getting rusty and in 95 started working for Roadsounds in Minot, ND (Before the current owners bought it and expanded to Fargo). At that time roadsounds wasn't a performance shop at all, just stereos/alarms/remote starters, I learned more from working there than I did anywhere else. After a year or so I met my ex-wife and moved to Rugby, ND where I started doing autostarts for various dealers in the area (Harvey, Rugby, Carrington, Devils Lake)...ahh...those were the days...work from 8 am to 2 pm, go fishing from 3:30 til 10:00 and repeat the next day. This was back when you'd still get almost $300/starter, before EVERYONE started doing them. Somewhere during this time I got divorced and met my current wife. When she graduated from college at Devils Lake we moved to Fargo, this was when Type-R was just starting and since I'd known Caleb for about 8-9 years by then I started hanging out at the shop where I'd met Tufte, Dave, Stephen, etc.... and got hooked on performance mods. My first import was a 1988 Honda Prelude Si, didn't do a whole lot with that one..cold air intake, exhaust, and neuspeed suspension w/ tokico struts...oh and auto to 5 spd conversion. That was a fun car, not that fast but handled better than any car I've been in to date. I eventually traded it in for my 2002 WRX that I have today (see my sig for a list of the major mods that have been done). I joined fargostreet in march of this year and was just recently made a moderator (I like to think because I try to stay fair and balanced w/o starting too much drama...except w/ STiSchucky):D I still do stereos/alarms/video systems/car starters.

At the building sites I don't do a lot of testing...do some finals but thats about it. What I normally do is inspect systems that have been up and running for at least a year and recertify them as being NFPA compliant. I'm primarily an inspector, but I do some tech work as well. I'd make the change to full time tech but the pay isn't any different so I can't see a good reason to take on more stress...

I honestly think I have one of the best jobs ever.....

Ahhh... I wonder if it was the place you work for that I had to all about 127 times to get a temperate sensor detector for the lobby of my hotel 😛 We have a Simplex system in my hotel.
