For example the opening dialogue for Halo 3 is cortana saying something about she picked John #117 because he had something none of the others did... luck. That is a direct quote from one of the books.

Yup good stuff although the second book, the one covering the first game, was pretty lame. That looks like what I imagined the exosuits the spartans played with in that warehouse looked like just a little bigger.
