<![CDATA[Who's got the best deal on Remote Starters?]]>Gunna get the wife a remote starter for her truck this christmas and wondering whats the good deals out there now. I need one for my car too but don't have that much money to waste. I have used only compustar and Astrostart one's so far.

I would buy one and install it myself, but can't seem to find the good ones where I can buy them uninstalled, plus I ran out of patientce for installing them years ago, because the security systems can be a pain.

Were you talking about your G35 w/ the smart key? If so, yes you still have to carry the smart key w/ you. If you're talking about normal a normal keyless entry remote, then just as Chuck said, it can all be done just w/ the autostart remote.

I have been trying to find some uninstalled, but the good ones are hard to find that way, dammit. I used to install these things and would rather do it myself if I can.

And don't misunderstand me; I don't want to get anybody in trouble for this. The guy was very polite and curteous. He just gave me the answer someone else fed him. So it's really no big deal.

It was a while ago, but I recall him being around 5'10" and thin...around 150 maybe? I know that probably describes about 90% of males in this town, but that's about the best I can do.

I did tell him that I had the 2-way AstroStart from another vehicle and wanted it installed in my 5-speed. He wasn't sure so he went and asked....you know the rest.

There are model and part numbers on the back of the brain, but I'm assuming those numbers are probably just for that part, not the entire unit itself.

So not knowing exactly what model number it is, I can tell you that it's a 2-way that **doesn't **have the little display screen on the remote. It confirms that it started by simply vibrating the remote w/flashing lights at the top.

It costs $75 more for the manual ones, and I'm pretty sure that's installed. It's more because you need an extra set of wiring for it. So for the cheapest it'd be like $254 for a manual.
