It requires more space than the cartridge, thus making the walls really thin. Yes, he would like it to spin open and shut. Like I said, he uses higher end components in the pen than just a cartridge.

We used to make those in shop class, all we did was ream them out a little bit and a regular pen cartridge slides right in. Or isnt that what you meant?

He also does it with antler too. He has made a couple half shell, half antler, or both sides antler.

He can do pens out of almost anything. He uses Cross and Sheaffer pen mechanisms.

He said parts alone are about $20, and each pen takes a lot of work to make. He mainly does it as a hobby, but charges $45 to make them.
