Not saying this should always be the case but it is sad how many hundreds of millions of tax dollars are wasted annually on repeat child sex offenders/rapists/murderers so they can sit in their cozy little jail cell for the rest of their life.

Bullets are still a lot cheaper than the $1Mil we spend on each inmate per year.

BTW, I think that this is how we do it as well, if we can get an officer/sniper close enough AND if we are reasonably certain that the hostages won't be harmed in the process.
