(from http://techreactions.com/default.aspx, but i think i've seen a better/different one before)

People have figured out how to build an adapter for the V1 remote display to the Audi FIS [the little LCD between your speedo and tacho].

Viola -- factory radar detector

the thing holding me back from a radar is to get the best actual protection, the answer is V1 hands down [plus a laser jammer, ala the Laser Park Pro]. But the V1 isn't a concealed / distributed system. I don't want anything stuck to my windshield. Passport SRX puts a network of sensors all over the car and has split the system into its constituent parts. Much more "permanant" install. But, the sensors should be as high as possible, ideally, and so the radar performance is somewhat compromised.

If Mike Valentine would make a box that is as good as his current box, but it was cut up in the following way

sensor mounted on back side of rear-view mirror for for-ward looking radar

sensor mounted on 3rd brake light for rear-looking radar

button/knob interface panel that can be mounted anywhere in the car

display panel that can be mounted anywhere in the car

laser sensors for front and rear licence plate areas

data output port for interfacing to external displays and sending laser warning signals [to interface with an LPP or other jamming device]

Then I'd probably buy one
