Nope, but according to EVERY right wing talk show host, Katrina caused little/no drop in production of crude oil in the gulf. So you can't blame Katrina either. You could say that the war in Iraq is causing gas prices to go higher, but it really shouldn't be. Prior to the war we got almost none of our oil from Iraq (just a tiny bit in the oil-for-food program) anyway, now we control the country (supposedly). FWIW, saying Bush/Cheney aren't asshole deep in the oil industry is like saying John Kerry's family boycotts ketchup.

Oil companies in the past year have reported the largest quarterly earnings of any corporation in any industry...yet they try to justify $3/gallon gas to me. Gouging, 100%. Now, granted, the bottled water industry charges ridiculous amounts for 20 oz of spring water, but at least I have the option to rehydrate myself with tap water if I choose to.

Premium I don't believe is under $3/gal yet, but I hope the prices keep on dropping.... They are just conditioning us to get used to $3/gal or so.. I remember not too long ago it was in the $1.xx range, not its easily in the high $2.xx range; and it's like they got no intention to drop it..
