It has done that maybe 5 times in the last few weeks. Today it did it again, but it wont come back.

Current situation......car is in the parking lot. When I turn the key it cranks, but wont start. I can keep it cranking but nothing happens. I have had suggestions to check the cap and rotor, the distributer cap, and the coil. Any ideas?

You should hear your fuel pump (a little whining noise in the fuel tank). The pump should run for a few seconds when you first turn on the key, and then go again after cranking for a while. If you want to check the fuel pressure, there should be a schrader valve (looks like a tire valve stem) on the fuel rail up by the injectors. If you don't have a fuel pressure gage, you can put a rag over the valve and poke the center with a screwdriver. It will squirt like crazy if there's any fuel pressure in the system.

The guy that bought my blazer had the pump go out and it cost him $7xx.00 some bucks for the OEM as I stated.

I've priced out the pumps before I really don't think you're gonna do it for under 500 bucks parts and labor. BUT, who knows if that is even the issue.

Check to see if you have spark, and listen to hear if your fuel pump is running when you turn the key on

My first guess would be the ignition module (under the dist. cap and rotor ~ new for around $30-$40)

They usually cut out temporarily at high loads or high RPM (due to heat), and eventually go out totally
