A: Waxing your is best insurance to protect your car's finish. Wax keeps most contaminants from reaching the paint and starting a chemical reaction. Wax diffuses (refracts) both UV and infrared radiation from the sun. UV and infrared is absorbed by the pigment in the paint causing it overheat, dry out, dull and oxidize over time. A waxed car will actually have a lower paint surface temperature than an un-waxed car. Waxing can help prevent damaging scuffs and nicks while giving you the opportunity to view and take control of any further damage. A well cared for car reflects you and your lifestyle.

It was a Silver 2000+ Silverado... They didnt really Teach me anything .. they told me how to hold it and how much compound to use. You learn best by just going at it... you may burn the paint if your not careful with using that buffer but if you turn down the speed you should be fine when learning. Note: do you learn how to buff on a Dark Color Car!!!

I wish I could afford an extractor. Isn't that like a grand for one? Until then I will just make everyone take there shoes off when they get into the car.

EDIT: How did you learn on the rotory? Did they let you practice on junk cars first? or did they have someone supervise you to prevent you from thinning the paint?

We Use the Dewalt 849 Ive used about every buffer on the market and I like the Dewalt the best.!! Im gonna be getting a Dual Action Buffer soon.. I learned to buff cars for Selland Motors and Aaron learned at Valley Imports. So we both have some good training under our belts, about 7 years together. For compounds I use Eagle One Heavy-Duty Buffing / Meguiars Diamound Cut 2.0 and From time to time I will use 3M ... Next I Would use Auto Magic's Polish or Meguiars Swirl Remover 2.0 Which is a Light cut and will leave a brilliant high gloss, after that I use Auto Magic XP wax/ Meguiars HI-Tech Wax (Carnauba)

Sounds like a good process you have. It's good to see you actually know what your doing and are not justs slapping on some turtle wax with an off brand swirl machine. Was it hard to get the hang of the DeWalt?
