I did some googling and came across several sites saying that it was a purge valve issue that is fairly well known. So we went in to Lunde last week to get the part after they had told her something along the same lines of the purge valve several months ago when she first brought it in (they told her it wouldn't hurt to drive it like this and she'd just have to deal with the CEL til it was fixed). So we go to the part department, I say we need a purge valve for her car that has been in the shop before, he looks up her name to see the cars history and the guy orders us an EVAP Pump something or other, saying yeah that's the issue with the car and it will be in within the week. Part finally arrives, we do some reading and see that it's not just another name for the purge valve but the guy said that is what was wrong so we went with it (dumbass move on our part). So we install the part, and what do you know, the car still doesn't want to start after you fill it with gas. So we call up Lunde saying "why did you give us the EVAP Pump saying that would fix it, when we specifically asked for a Purge Valve" and they said we never asked for a purge valve and that we need a purge valve to fix the problem. So they ended up selling her a $150 Evap pump that didn't fix shit and now want her to pay for the purge valve that we had originally requested.

Short version: Asked for a purge valve at Lunde to fix car issue, guy said he'd ordered a part that would fix the issue, part wasn't purge valve but he said it'd fix it. Didn't fix it, they claim we never asked for a purge valve and that we need to buy a purge valve to fix the issue. Lunde is a crooked stealership and we're stupid for believing the guy in the first place.

And yes, I know I am dumb for taking the word of the parts guy over the research I had done. For what it's worth, some of the posts I found said that the EVAP Pump can sometimes cause these issues as well, but i'd say 95% of the stuff I found said Purge Valve was the issue.

There's nothing you can do about the part you installed, it wasn't what you needed but you installed it so its yours. They might cut you a deal on the other part if you're chill about it.

The labor on the part quoted was $200+. This is the reason I generally steer clear of dealerships to begin with, astronomically high labor rates and they screw you over whenever they possibly can. Just like Corwin Toyota tried to charge me ~$300 to put in a hood latch cable on my lexus, I installed the thing on my own in 45 minutes.
