<![CDATA[chmod using ftp]]>I'm trying to chmod some files for a forum using ftp (tried smartftp and ws_ftp) and I can get in to check the permissions I want, but it won't save the settings. Keeps giving me the error "command not understood". Anyone got any ideas what else I can try?

Yes, I ftp'd the files up. It will allow me to change file names and folder names.

hmm, that would probably be a problem. Can you rename the folder at all? Did you FTP that folder up?

edit I thought I got the permissions to change on the files, but they went back to 000 also.

One other thing to look at is the permissions of the folder you put the files in.
