Gates open at 10am, with racing starting at 12pm.

There will be a few changes this year to help streamline the entire process, as well as make everything run more efficiently. First of all, if you plan to race, you will pay at the ticket booth, then proceed on the gravel road until the curve that takes you into the track area (by the row of trees running east/west). You will need to get in line in the grass on the north/west just off of the gravel, where you will be tech'd in. Once you are tech'd in, you will then proceed on the gravel road until you are in the track area. If your vehicle is being brought in on a trailer, you will be able to enter the track area, unload the vehicle, then bring it back to the tech area. This will be fairly self explanatory when you arrive at the track, but I wanted to give everyone a heads up that TECH IS NO LONGER IN THE STAGING LANES!

Secondly, being the staging lanes will be completely left to the racers and not a mixture of tech and racers, we will be using the staging lanes more efficiently to avoid having ANY cars on the pit roads backed up. There will be a person in the front of the staging lanes, and a person in the back of the staging lanes directing you to the proper lanes. To give you a rundown of how this will work: The lane closest to the fence/dragstrip will be left as a buffer, and cars will never line up in this lane. The 2 lanes next to the 'buffer' lane will be used primarily. If these lanes are full, you will need to move over to the next TWO lanes (1 car in lane 3, the next car in lane 4, not 2 cars in lane 3...it needs to be evenly divided). Once those lanes also fill up, we will move over to the next 2 lanes and so on. After we are at the end of the available lanes, we will move back to the original 2 lanes and do it all over again. This will alleviate all pressure on the pit roads and help move things along more easily. The back staging lane personnel should direct you, but in the case it is swamped, do not simply assume you are going into 1 of the 2 lanes nearest to the buffer (as we have always done).

If any of this is confusing, I apologize....It is going to be fairly straight forward when you arrive, but I wanted to plant a seed in everyones head, that things are not exactly the same.

In the event that the weather is not looking promising, you can check www.topenddragways.com or call (218)236-9461 for the latest updates and chances of racing. It will give updates periodically as conditions improve/deteriorate. We will try put updates on Fargostreet and our forum as well, however www.topenddragways.com and the phone number will have the quickest answer for you.

See you Saturday!

If you're running slicks you need wheel studs that extend into the head of the lug nut a distance at least that of the diameter of the stud. Driveshaft loop with slicks (where applicable obviously).
Remote mount batteries need to have a marked cutoff switch that kills power to the entire vehicle.
Helmets are always a good idea. (is the helmet cutoff 11.49 or 13.99, I forget)

NHRA rulebook as of a couple years ago says that the driver of any car running non-factory forced induction has to have a SFI approved fire jacket. Chuck, are you going to be watching this one at all this year? I know ISD and BIR haven't been enforcing it in the past (I don't care either way, I picked up a jacket last year)

It's also not very hard to keep track of the cars with yearly stickers and a low ET they're allowed to run before calling them out on it. Pay for number & get yearly tech sticker. Car X is allowed to run 11.50s. Car X runs 11.49 or faster without being re-tech'd pull them off to the side and see if their shit is in order and if not, send them on the way.

I think the cases of 'abuse' would be a lot fewer than you think and it would really speed up things like the TM days.

Possibly, with the amount of in depth info needed for a ETI each car takes approximately 10-15 minutes and for most cars it wouldn't be needed.

If I did our own form of ETI which would be more fitting to the regular car that shows up to TM days and had our own stickers I don't think it would speed much up. For the most part (other then the faster cars) tech can move rather quickly and there isn't that much to check, however even if we a yearly sticker, I still need to check every car for said sticker, plus an updated tech card for the tower, plus sign the wavier. So realistically every car still needs to come to the tech line to do all that stuff which as he/she is doing that, I can look over the car and will know exactly the stat of the car and can point out any potential issues/problems.
