I have seen some pictures of the streets there and they are narrow as hell. With the mirror folded in, it lessens the chance of it being damaged, along with the car being driven by. The power folding mirrors is an option, not standard. And the sunroof on the Type-R is and option to have due to Honda wanting the car as light as possible. Same with the radio on the Type-R too.

Good question. I am not sure, but I have seen many pics from people that were stationed over there. They may just leave the car in neutral and carefully roll it on in.

That's Japan for ya'. Most of thier vehicles are very small and boxy. But heck, look at thier lack space. Some actually have to fold thier side view mirrors to fit in thier garages.
