Anyways Im still lookin into what Im gonna do to it.......I was wondering what everyone thought the best shop in town is for performance installs. I would appreciate knowing which shops are good and which ones to avoid.....

$10k if you want something to amaze your friends that will help you build a 10second car

$3500 if you think that this is the only way to make xxxhp

$1400 if you are concerned about how to adjust your fuel pressure on the fly, account for large variations in altitude, etc
the questions weren't that simple, just stuff i pulled off the top of my head. basically, if you were buying the stand-alone because of fast and the furious than you deserved to get raped... but if you had some idea what to do and weren't just jumping on the bandwagon... see where i'm going with this?
caleb knows what's what, he'll help you figure out what to do if you ask him the right questions. BUT, if you go in (any performance shop) saying that you want your base model mustang to smoke your cousin's viper, have 2 15's in the trunk, convert it to a 5spd and still be reliable enough to get to class enery morning... he's going to send you away with a scary price (and if you are stupid enough to buy at that price, he'll be happy to take your cash).
do some reading to compare superchargers to turbos on v6's, figure out some realistic goals and what kinds of prices to expect, then go in with some intelligent questions. i guarantee that you will be talking to a completely different guy and getting different answers.

I applaud your decision on working with your V6. Unbeknownst to you at the moment, it actually opens up other possibilities for you, especially in formal competition, you would be in a very niche class.

I would suggest you tap the knowledge base on both www.stangnet.com, and www.tcstangs.com for local advice (for shops and such if the need arises). Some very reputable places include RJR Motorsports and Hi-Tec is legendary for their dyno tune.

Keep in mind the V6 project will probably be frustrating at times, and somewhat expensive, and at times you may be tempted to throw a 5.0 or 4.6 under the hood, so I suggest that you really think this over to be sure this is the exact direction you want to take the car (not just a whim). That way, it is more likely you would see the project through.

You can buy the kit for like $4500 I believe someone step in if this is wrong. The install might set you back another grand so that quote from Type-R maybe a little off.

I know that SLS offers a kit for Honduhs for $2500 (not publically though) but that is the most basic of kits so I think with being that you're V6 and all it would cost a little more.

Minor mods are basic do it yourselfer stuff. Can you change your oil? Then you can do a lot. Buying parts thru a shop gets you markup plus labor for install. Some shops won't do installs unless they order the parts, some will. Have you looked at FRPP(Ford Racing Performance Parts)? I'm not sure what they have for you but you can check. Then you can have a ford dealership do the work. There is another mustang guy Turboh5oh on this forum he works there. He can probably tell you if they can or can't do something.

exactly. just saying 'i want my car to go fast. where do i go?' isnt really the thing to do. figure out exactly what you want to do and when you want to do it, then go to the various shops and check into prices/times. thats really the best way to go.

P.S. If it is something dirty, just ask someone on the forum on how hard it is to do, most of use are willing to help out a bit if it is something that doesn't take much work, or that we know well. So getting your hands dirty is your best bet, unless you are looking for an overhaul.

Depends how long you want to be w/o your car. Type-R I'm confident can do what you want, HOWEVER it will take him longer than the rest of the shops. I'm guessing SLS could assist you as well, though they kind of pride themselves on being mostly imports. Roadsounds....now that GSR isn't working there I don't know if they still do mechanical stuff in fargo. Autowerx out of business. Tintmasters I assume could probably do what you need too. PROBABLY the quickest of all the shops mentioned, though they do tend to cost a bit more.
