Most is they say they cannot afford a good exhaust system that will deliver the performance yet deliver it at quieter yet more pleasant decibles. Yet a lot of them drive late model cars (yes mostly civics). Anyway I have found if you opt for the 80s or early 90s cars you dont have the huge payment. You probably wont have one at all which will leave you with plenty of green to get the good exhaust. Plus you can them prolly afford the car to be turbo from the get go. Like the early RX7s, Supras, and 300ZXs. Yes there is plenty of aftermarket for these cars. I have a ton of stuff that is Racing Beat. Which is high quality stuff. So the excuse of its to expensive could be resolved with buying a cheaper car with more potential at what you really want anyway. I have 88 RX7 TII I paid $3k for in cash. No car payments and plenty of $ left over for a nice exhaust, upgraded turbo, bigger injectors and so on. Basically I have the car built to go as fast as "I" can possibly get it to go on pump gas. My total cost is probably $7-8k including the new rubber. Anyway the car looks good, there is not a lot of nice looking ones around anymore which helps it to be a bit more original. Anyway this is just a suggestion. The trade off being you dont have a late model car with a fart can and the whole line of APC products from Checker glued to your car for a earlier model turbo car with the stuff that will let you go pretty damn good legally. Plus the early model turbo cars can grow with you as your budget grows and IMO will always be cool. I still think a 80s TurboZ is freakin cool. Anyway enough of my 2 cents. I am sure that some people just like the look at me factor they get from the fart can exhaust, bling wheels and APC body kits and stickers. So my suggestion is not a viable option. Well they now got the attention they wanted through various complaints from Fargo citizens and now they have the attnetion of the POlice.

lets see, a FAKE exhaust would be just the can, with nothing done before it. well, its technically real, but you see where Im headed, right?

a semi rel exhaust would be a cat back, and REAL exhaust would be header (or down pipe)+ full exhaust system.

those are my opinions. oh and usmcjsy guy, Im with you. Id rater buy a little bit of an older car and dump money into it from there.

Did you know that a 1984 nissan 300ZX turbo 50th anniversary was one of the fastest production cars of 1984? 147mph, limited and a 14.7 1/4 mile. imagine what you could do with a boost controller, 3" exhaust and an intercooler....... or even get a 1988 300ZXT SS, or Shiro Special. stripped down with factory recaros and power NOTHING. factory installed Konis, I beleive........

Im sure there are plenty of obscure models of RX-7's and Supras out there that are just as fast and have just as much potential, but people would rather stick to FWD econoboxes that were never intended as performance vehicles and stick fart cans and wings on them.

note: econoboxes does not include anything with a factory turbo I.e. AWD DSM's, Evo's, some models of subaru

Hate me or love me, I dont care because its just the internet, lol

I like this. Much better and more intelligent than having to raise the rear spoiler. Subaru is being very innovative lately with what they are willing to put on their production cars.

I've got a header, notice no s at the end, had a local shop put 2 1/4" exhaust on from the cat back and added a stainless aftermarket muffler. What does that make it? What exactly is "real" exhaust? Is that opposed to the "imaginary" exhaust?
I consider myself a curtious and responsible driver, I know my exhaust is loud but only when I really get on it. I Have an empty cat and no resonators, which doesn't help though. I know for a fact the cops in fargo can be serious dicks so I try to keep it low key, but in a small town like New Rockford out here in the middle of hickville you can get by with loud exhaust a lot easier. I don't know how many on the forums here have actually seen or even heard my car, if you have I'd like to know how it sounds to you. Loud, quiet, good, shitty, some where in between..

I see 2 people I have evidently "pissed off", in a completely different thread. You, and Jim. Because of a difference in viewpoint, politically. If you would like, we can continue discussing that viewpoint, which unlike 99% of the time with most people, I am actually willing to change (which is why I am willing to siscuss it), or it can be dropped. I do not set out with the intention of pissing anyone off, admin or not. If I did, then I want to see it come to a conclusion where no one is pissed off anymore. Being admins or not has nothing to do with that, imo.
