First off, I am not trying to start fights here.

How many of the cars that were broken into have a theft deterrent system, be it a factory alarm of aftermarket?

How many of the cars that were broken into had some sort of valuable in sight, be it a pair of walkie talkies, change in the ashtray, a wallet, CDs, that type of thing?

How many were left unlocked, or with the windows cracked?

How many have systems that they pound around people?

The reason I ask is that thieves look for an easy target. If they see that something nice looking inside the car, they will break in, since there is a better chance of grabbing something than if they see nothing in sight. These were all crimes of opportunity. You have to make your car un-appealing to thieves. Remove all valuables from inside the car, don't keep anything personal that they could recognize you with in the car. Basically, anything that might be attractive to a thief must go. If you keep CDs in your car, throw them under the seat, take the stereo faceplate, and make sure you ALWAYS lock the car, no matter if you are just leaving it for 2 minutes. Do realize that an alarm is only a deterrent, so it does not make your car safe from thieves. If they really want your car, or whats in it, nothing will stop them. If you want to know more, or have questions, let me know. Also, instead of ripping on the police for stopping people for traffic violations, go in a talk with them. Voice your concern that there are a rising number of vehicles being broken into, and that you want to do something to help, and you want their help.

I had an alarm in my car, and they just ripped the shit out of my top w/ a knife when I had stuff...

You need to understand, we've been here for years, getting shit jacked for years, and the police don't do shit. ever. look at the sheer number of people getting shit jacked, and it honestly results in them never getting it back.
