It started along the edges of the vent which wasn't to bad in my opinion and then it just got worse and worse till it got to the state you see before you.
I don't have a clue as to what caused it and I know it won't buff out, I've tried a few times already and there is never any improvement in it. One of my friends said that it may have been caused by heat but that's just a theory.
It's a VIS hood and I checked to see if they might have a warranty of some kind and they don't have anything at all.
I'm thinking of painting it semi-gloss black because I think it's gotta be better than it is now. I bought some of that krylon fusion paint that's supposed to chemicaly bond to plastic to try, has anybody ever used this? I also though about good old flat black.
I'd like your opinions on what you might do. Leave it and deal with it, paint it.
Semi-gloss or flat black(thought about camo ultra flat black also). The best way to paint the hood (with a rattle can). Anything else I might have forgotten. Basically I just what your general input on what route might be the best to take.

A new hood is out of the question, not enough funds, plus I don't want to stick a whole lot of money into something like this because I might be selling it. I'm still undecided though.

hmm. what did you try buffing it with?

I used 3M rubbing compund, said on the bottle it was clearcoat safe and removed 1500 grit swirl marks. I also used zymol to wax it afterwards. It was like I did absolutely nothing to it.

I've seen it done a few times but never really tried wetsanding before. I seem to remember that you sand in a parallel motion not circular, can't remember though.
I've already got some 800 grit from a previous project and I'm guessing I'll need 1500, 2000 or both, and a lot of water.:)
