<![CDATA[Brakes locked up]]>Ok, well I replaced the front pads rotors and wheel bearings on a buddy's fiero. Took it out for a spin, took a block to get the brakes working good then I drove another mile and started smelling brakes. I stopped and checked them and they were smoking hot. I let them cool a bit and drove back to the shop. Tonight I jsut took both front tires off, and the calipers are stuck solid, I can't even get them off the rotors.

SO what would cause a perfectly good workign set of calipers to lock up? The old brake pads were worn down to the rivits and the rotors were worn half as thick as the new ones. Could it be that the caliper was worn too bad and having to have the piston almost all the way in, cause them to sieze or what??

I have never seen this happen before.

Bingo. I see it all the time, especially on GM vehicles.

P.S. not surprising to see old calipers like that (as in an old fiero) seize.
