The ticket doesn't have a fine listed (I thought it did but it turns out that was the statute number). It also states that I have to go to court. Anyone know what this means? Why is there no option to just pay a fine. I've had tickets before but never one like this.

After a certain amount of tickets in Minnesota within a certain amount of time you have mandatory court dates. No just paying the fine. I think its 3 within a 1-3 year time period. If you don't have that many tickets he probably just effed up.

But why? Why don't they make it simple and put the fine right on the ticket? I already know what I owe but still don't understand why they couldn't just tell me from the beginning.

Anyone can figure that out. I simply asked why I was issued a ticket without a fine clearly stated. I've had more tickets than I'd like to admit but each and every one of them clearly stated how much of a fine I was responsible for. It just seems silly to create more work for everyone by making me call in just to see what I owe. But I guess that's a liberal state for ya

Anything outside of the tri-state area sucks more tho. Wisconsin cops are dicks and the tickets are expensive and pretty much every state between WI and NY has signs that say like $300 Minimum fine, speed enforced or something

So why didn't they put the fine amount on the ticket? I've had speeding tickets in MN before (not recently) and the fine amount was always on the ticket before.

There should be a number on the back of the ticket, or you will have to look it up in the phone book. When you call them, say you got a ticket and want to know the amount due. They'll ask you for some info on the ticket and then they will tell you. When you sign the ticket you no longer have to appear in court, as you have already plead guilty.

Yes the amount is intentionally left blank.

( I know this isn't your first) But hers had the fine amount on it along with the court date. If you pay the fine before court, your admitting your guilt and it goes on your record. If you choose to contest it, that's what the court date is for. I'd go to the adress listed on the ticket and ask them. I wouldn't take my chances on this one based on what you told me yesterday. I think it was a statewide crackdown yesterday because they were pulling people over EVERYWHERE!!!! Fuckers.

You will sign the back of the ticket pleeding guilty and they'll tell you how much the fine is. It's not like in ND when you oay the ticket BEFORE you even pleed guilty. This is the normal procedure in MN, and the cop didnt mess up. sorry dude!
