My Capri ran a 12.35 on motor with 311 hp to the wheels and a 12.80 on motor when it only had 245hp to the wheels. You have to remember on Mustangs you can change the gears very easy and they respond to that well.

Grabbed great On the rsx i t has a rev limiter before vtec so i bounce of that and floor the gas and slip the clutch. It has shitty tires. I guess Im asking just on technique itself thats universal to all manual fwd cars. Do you slip clutch more or do you not fully throttle the gas? Do you just try to burn through 1st (only first in my case) or should you start in 2nd?

It depends on the car, the power your making etc... but rev it up, slip the clutch a bit till you feel it catch slightly and then get the hell out of first so you might have a chance to hook it up

So then tell "theoblivious" how to do it, that's what the thread is about.

It's all about NOT spinning the tires. Obviously if your tires are spinning, then you're not going as fast as you could. You really just need to find the balance between spinning and bogging. If it means slipping the clutch to keep RPMs up and in your power band, then so be it. It would help if you posted up what car, what mods, what tires, and your current launch technique.

You guys are nuts. Its impossible to launch to a FWD car, well just look at the setups on the fwd drag cars there is a lot of technology and engineering in those front ends and they are still quite a bit slower than a RWD with the same power and tires. But there is way to get faster launches and honestly are those high rpm launches faster? Lower your tire pressure, it can shave a few tenths off you 60 foot and thats where you FWD guys need it. Bone up on the concept of weight transfer. Stiffening up you rear suspension will make the car squirrely at the long end but you'll get much better launches and keep the front planted. If you can adjust you ride height put the back in the air, there is a reason muscle cars have a rake. Its a delicate balance between ride quality and speed but who care about a sore ass at the end of the day. Obviously i can only give you a little bit of info in this particular arena but read, there are some pretty good tech articles in Modified Mag and the like. You can always ask some of the guys in town who have drag racers the concepts all apply except in reverse, you want to keep weight off the rear to get traction.
