<![CDATA[Therapeutic Animal?]]>I am looking at getting a new puppy and I heard that if you live in an apartment, even if they have a no pets rule, you can have one as long as you have a note from your doctor saying it is therapeutic. Does anyone have experience doing this, is it legit?

When I moved up here I started going to Rebecca Elbert, at the Meritcare on South University, like 17th ave south. She's really nice and she seems like she'd write a note and stuff, probably wouldnt work if that's the only reason why you see them, but at an appointment it'd be a thing to bring up. As far as insurance it depends on what you have, I'm still on my parents health insurance because i'm a full-time student. I only have to pay a $15 co-pay every visit (insurance covers the rest, I think it's the same as a regular doctors appointment), and it ranges from a month to like 6 months between appointments. I wonder what the legalities of doing that here in the dorms, because it really did help me to have my dog back home.

In this case the owner is breaking the law so she is taking him to court.. thats the update from her mouth today.

If you have a doctor's letter saying you need it, then it's like the equivalent to a seeing eye dog. You can bring it anywhere's, if someone doesnt let you, you can use the American's With Disabilities Act and sue their asses. A friend of my family was telling me about it tonight because she's got a letter and all that stuff for her dogs.
