Well i just bought a 91 crx hf today from an auction and i would like to do a motor swap. The car would be street driven but not a daily driver and i would also like to take it to the track and run a decent time. I am just wondering what you guys recomend for a motor. Just let me know i am open to all suggestions.

    Thank You Danny

There are many options you can do. Right now your car has less than 70hp and and really long transmission gears.

If you want to spend the cash, do a b series swap or even a h22 swap.

But if you want affordable swaps, stay in the d series. I just sold my Hf CRX a little over a month ago. I swapped in a SI engine and tranny, and there was a world of difference. The extra power I needed to pass people and get up to the speed limit and it was fun. Still had the good gas milage and reliability, plus it cost me less than $500 for everyhting to do the swap and it only took me a afternoon to complete.

B18A swap, hands down. That's THE BEST bang for your buck you will get.

Too many options, you'll have to do more research to find out which will be best for ya for performance over cost and whatnot. I personally would prefer to see an H22 in there, or even maybe (if it would fit) a K24A2 motor swap, there might be mounts available for that, but would require a lot of work.

Well selling would be an option i saw it there and bid on it and got it. So selling might be an option. But if i keep it i would like to spend less then a $1000. But id also like to turbo it or even run some nitrous through it i just dont know yet....

Best bet is to find a wrecked car that's complete, and either buy the whole car, or just the motor swap, and then part out the rest, then you can basically end up with a free swap. Trust me, I've done it.

well the best bang for the buck in my opinion... My hatch with a stock z6 went 14.9 @ 94 on shitty tires...

                          buy a Z6 engine trans. for 350.00
buy a turbo kit.. 1000.00- 3000.00 depending on what you get..

it will then beat any h22 or b16 b18... Id expect a sohc w/ a turbo kit to run 220-260 hp and run as low as( high 11's )with slicks..

Ya, the Type-R K20A motor swap is. Type-S K20A2's can be had for 2-3, and the Base/Si K20A3's can be for 1-2. From what i have seen, the H22's are in the 2-3 also, same with B16a or B18C's. It all depends on what he is going for. K20A2's can easily put 200-230 to the ground with easy modification, as much as a heavily modified B18.

Like he said, best route is the D16Z6. Great motor, exellent to turbo. Damn good price.
