Concordia costs a lot of money for imo the same education you'll recieve around the region. However, many many alumni in the professional world will definately hire a concordia grad over any other college, if they graduated from the same place. Concordia alumni stick together then any other university in the region. I go to NDSU and MSCTC and enjoy both for their respective fields. I study CS at NDSU (former ECE student) and getting my AAS/CCNA of Network technology at MSCTC (now paid for by my employer).

i agree that it does seem to be the same education as any other college in this area, though i haven't compared the cost to und... but i really like the student/faculty ratio, about 14:1.
i took a tour today, and i really like the vibes i get from the place. they seem to be interested in helping students develop mentally and socially into people that are prepared to succeed in whatever they do.
i'm still not sure about what i'll be majoring in, but i'm considering law school afterwards, and concordia offers a pre-law program -
Like I stated I think the culture and atmosphere is probally better, as Concordia stuends/alumni do stick together on and off campus moreso then any other university. It's just IMO it's not worth the extra money. I know they say they will make it affordable, but in the end your looking at $50k plus MINIMUM. Plus the book prices are OUTRAGEOUS. But in all honesty if your folks will pay for school or something (that's the deal I'm on to be honest) go for it. I originally went to NDSU to pursue engineering, and like everyone I changed my majors, I realized its not what I wanted to do for the rest of my life, I enjoy programming and development but I don't plan to stop my education after my BS. I hope to go back and recieve a Masters in CS or another degree in MIS. The more education the better in today's workforce. College is the best investment you'll ever make.

Concordia, MSUM and NDSU blows.. go with UND or U of M. Higher standards and better education.

exactly what my mom says. the position she's in offers a pretty descent income that took her about 15 years to get into... when she would've been able to do the same thing right out of college.
as long as i apply myself and strive for success, she said that she'll help me go anywhere i want... so i have my sights set high (now that i have taken a look at what is out there), but a 4year degree is necessary before i can even think about medicine, law, etc...
i just wish i would've understood this when i was still 17/18... ah well, with age comes wisdom and (hopefully) the ability to make better long term choices -

Things like computers and networking arent in such high demand anymore... just think what they will be like 10 to 15 years down the road.
Once I get my journeyman license ill never have to worry about looking for a job again. And once I get my masters I can start my own business. And its not like im not making jack shit... once im done with my apprenticeship ill be making more than 95% of the people I graduated with.

strange, 2nd fastest growing job in the market PERIOD according to forbes, and every other employment agency in the nation. Sorry have to disagree on this one. We are only behind nurses right now which is the highest in demand.

People who are talented, can develop, and innovate new more efficient ideas to improve a companies backbone, being their digital "mainframe" whether it be data integrity, networking, or POS - will ALWAYS make LARGE amounts of money. $100k + if you start marketing yourself and get a very good position within a company. and I won't go into how much more, or exactly I make compared to my graduate class from Shanley. I'm very confident in what I make and what I take is very well respected for my age. However, I'm not satisfied nor will I ever be, in America the only way to really make money is to be your own business. I hope to privatize the skillbase and knowledge from numerous employers and expose myself to intricate networks around the nation before I start that endeavour. But time will only tell.

Actually UND offers an excellent program for law, but once again, I've noticed in my personal record that Concordia alumni pull strings. I'm sure UND does too, but it seems more dominant in this area then others. I guess if you want to get out of the region go to UND - since a degree is a degree, your work will be acreddited to the quality of the work and not how much money you spent on your education in a perfect world. But if you decide to stay in the region, Concordia may be the way to go.

I'm not sure how good UND's law program is, but the U of M is considered to be top 20 in the nation. What I've heard, it's very hard to get in, yet once you're in, it's not easy to graduate with a degree.
