If you plan to stick around the area I would look into the tri-college approach...much more flexibility with your schedule and you get to try out each of the three universities in the area (to a certain extent). Once you choose the major that suites you, after your liberal studies crap is in place, you can always transfer to the school of your liking. That is my plan of action for the time being and many of my classmates in the engineering and business management field are doing the same.

they all hook pipes together, but crazy union guys got together and said hey, lets think of a way to fuck a lot of people over and this is what they came up with...three specialized jobs that could all be done by one person.

Pretty much... They basically took plumbing and split it into 2 parts... Pipefitters use black steel and groove and thread pipe... basically why its called pipefitting... they fit pipe together and generally do heating/cooling supplies and shit like this.

Plumbers use copper to supply water, and use cast-iron and PVC plastic for waste... There is a difference but not much... both do run pipes, but both also do different things with the pipes their running and use different materials. I dont know a whole hell of a lot about pipefitters but they are different. You will never see a pipefitter running a floor drain, roof drain, a carrier for toilet, blah blah blah.

Plumbers and pipefitters... journeymen are by no means bitches... laborers are bitches. Apprentices are bitches with a title 😄

Journeymen run jobs... do the lay outs... rough ins... blah blah. Journeymen do everything. Masters are just journeymen with a new title that allows them to start their own business.

I went to und for 1 year in ME, but my parents lost their house, and the I had no were to stay. Plus, getting a decent part time job in GF is next to impossible. It's nice school in a bad location. It's also amazing how many people treat you like crap if you drop out of college. You'll never go back!!! Well I'm in school now despite working 36-60 hours per week so screw them!!!

As far as learning a trade, well when you get injured, you can't work. If you have a college degree that you can still use in partially disabled you're gonna be ok.

I agree with what you said in paragraph one. I took a year off when my son was born and it was a cake walk to go back to NDSU. People do it all the time. Props for everyone who doesn't just give up once they drop out!
As far as getting injured and not being able to work.....AFLAC
Here is my advice about choosing a school: NDSU-fewer women & it's a cow college, MSUM-liberal arts school, Condorkia-$$$$$, worth it?, UofM-huge campus but great school, UND-Would you really want to live in GF? It is all relative to what you want to study and what you personally need to get out of college.
I guess if I could go back to choosing a college without knowing what I wanted to go into, I would personally go to MSUM. Inexpensive, great campus life, more females than males, tri-college opportunity, and credits transfer easily.

The reason people choose Concordia is because it's a Christian College. That is what sets it apart from the others. To some people that is worth the outrageous tuition.

Re: being a laborer. It's cool when you are young and are making fairly good money. It gets old real quick when you get older and have a tougher time doing the physical work.... and you are still making the same money. A lot of times it takes a college grad quite a while to pass the HS grad in total income, but it will happen.

ya, I may go to msum when I finish my associates in Manufactoring Engineering Technition, for a bachlor's. Did anybody know you can take a U of mary program for a year to get a mastor's in business. It's only 3 hours a week, you must have a bachor's in ANY feild and $10,000 pretty good deal.

for me, it isn't the religion that i'm attracted to, it's the way i hear so many students refer to their experience. the classes are smaller, professors are more interested in YOU and how they can help you understand the material... it's not like ndsu where (i get the impression) it's more of a cattle drive.

Pretty much hit the nail on the head. NDSU is more annoyed by students than concerned about them. Go to MSU, it's Happy Fun Land, with girls and good grades for all. 😄

We do party hard - but the education is more difficult (depending on the program) which I don't mind. I pay to get educated afterall, I'd rather learn then just drink and party all the time. You have to learn how to mix the two 🙂

Just work your ass off from Monday through Friday, then have fun on weekends.
