I've shot birds and rabbits with BB guns and they ran away.I've put blackcats in frogs' mouths and watched their heads blow up.
I've run into millions of bugs with the front of my car.
I've put a lit cigarette and lighters on leaches, then left them on a dirt road to dry up and die.
I've hit a rabbit in my car.
OMG did the rabbit live? I'm calling PETA! -
(in best stewie voice) of course the turtle didn't get hurt...that's why it ran as fast as it could when it got started on fire...you know...because it was calm from the flames not hurting...that...that's why it didn't hurt bc it was so hot, bc fire is cold, bc burning on skin doesn't hurt, etc. etc.

I'll stay out of this but throw in something I know about 100%.
Typically lobsters aren't boiled. When they are it is just for show (it's what people expect). Chuck was right lobsters need to be killed while cooked or JUST before being cooked to avoid releasing toxins into their body. It's actually a pretty cool defense...."You can kill me, but once you eat me you too are fucked." To avoid the toxin release you have to pretty much gut a lobster as soon as it dies.
The real way that lobsters are cooked 99% of the time is this.
Lay them on their back and spread their legs/arms open. Run a chef knife into the "sternum" then split the "chest" open to the tail. Open them up like you are going to do heart surgery and clean out ALL internal organs under running water. Put them in a steamer for however long it takes to cook depending on size. All of this needs to be done in a very short time (2ish minutes is what it usually takes).

^^ So your pretty much gutting it alive? So it has no chance to release toxins... Am I correct? Or as soon as you cut the sternum/chest it dies?
Anyways, I like wannabes comment; the turtle could of been freaking out from the fire that was around it, no so much on its shell..
We need an amphibian expert in here.. -

I remember this one time when I was like 10 or something, there was this bull in our neighbors pasture, it had a broken leg, so i decided to fuck with it, I shot it in the head repeatedly with a .22 till I got bored and shot him with the .270. Then I hung him up from a tractor loader, ripped his guts out and skinned him, then to top it off I chopped his head off. I wonder what PETA would think of that.
Then I had the meat processed and we all ate it, and it was delicious. The end.

Ok, for those who think "oh, it was just a quick little fire, it didn't hurt him at all..." I was reminded today of a little "trick" we tried at work for testing heat detectors a while back....we sprayed the metal dome heat detector with a flammable fluid and then started the fluid on fire (trying to achieve a 15* temperature increase within the time of one minute without reaching the "fixed temperature, non-restorable" temperature of 195*) Long story short, it took less than 3 seconds to reach the non-restorable temperature and melted the solder tab completely ruining the device.
In short, that temperature reached nearly 200* INSIDE the heat chamber in less than 3 seconds.

Who really even gives a fuck about this turtle anymore? Let the kids take the punishment the law hands out and drop it. Radio shows, message boards, class, work, etc are wasting hours of their life arguing for the sake of arguing. If this is the worst thing that the region has to complain about, I think life is not that bad.

Hawley, Minn., teen will spend time in jail for his role in burning a snapping turtle.
Joel Charles Ross, 18, was sentenced Monday in Clay County District Court to a combination of up to 10 days in jail, community service and fines.
He pleaded guilty last month to a misdemeanor charge of animal cruelty for an incident that captured the attention of online viewers and animal rights activists around the world.
In late May, Ross and two juveniles videotaped themselves dousing a snapping turtle with gasoline and lighting it on fire twice.
They were discovered after someone sent Hawley police an e-mail with a link to the video.

WDAY: Jail time in animal cruelty case
“This was something that just got way out of control, said Dennis Fisher, Ross’s attorney.Fisher asked Judge Michael Kirk to impose fines and community service but not jail time, saying Ross and his family had suffered enough.
Ross told Kirk he feels bad for his actions and knows they were wrong. He said his family has been affected, including a brother serving in Iraq.
“He’s upset and probably thinks a lot less of me right now,” Ross said.
Ross said he had planned to sign up for the National Guard to do military police work. “Now I can’t, because of this,” he said.
Kirk said he wanted to see more empathy from Ross toward the animal. He sentenced Kirk to 90 days in jail, with 80 days suspended for two years and a $1,000 fine with $500 suspended for two years.
Ross is to serve five days in jail next month during a break from high school. If he completes 50 hours of community service by Dec. 15, he won’t have to serve the remaining five days over the holiday break.
He may also do community service to reduce $400 from his fine.
Ross was also sentenced to six months of supervised probation and ordered to take part in a restorative justice program.
Hawley city prosecutor Kevin Miller said he was comfortable with the sentence.
“It wasn’t too much different than what we had asked for,” Miller said.

Sit the bastard down in the cell and let him suffer.
