if u get one with the I6 youll get better milage(less cylinders and available 2wd). actually thursday was the 1st time i drove it in 3 months, i took insurance off it and parked cause im driving the 240. but i filled it up from just over 1/8th tank and it was $50, but my tank is somewhere in the low 20 gallons, i know i have put 21 gallons in it once, and there is a reserve in there to off acouple off gallons not shown on your electonics or gauge, at least thats what im told. and i get better mileage then my moms 05 with hemi and MDS with her driving. ive got to get it fixed or do something cause im running really rich right now. we have got 20mpg on the highway between here and montana at 75. but big tires and stuff ruin that opertunity. i have seen base models in the paper for around $4k right now, and good wranglers are expensive.

i can get about 280-290 miles on a tank, been so long since ive driven it. and the electronic stuff for mileage on mine is way off have no idea how but what ever i always check it the old fashion way. ill let you know what i get on this tank, its getting parked when the 240 runs again. and then when winter comes itll be out for some fun:icon_bounce:

Those computer mileage things are just vacuum gauges fed into a formula.

At first I did it for fun, then I realized I made the investment and had to do it!

o i wonder how well that would work on a highly modded vehilce. LOL.

that explains why it wrong cause some times i doubt im getting 37mpg at 40mph

I found Legacy GT, 2001, AWD manual. Whats the difference in the drivetrain between these?

get the RS. i was SO close to buying one last summer and ive kicked myself every day since for not doing it. lower it and throw some nice tires on it and itll stick to the road like a gokart. get a pair of winter tires and youll have a blast in the snow.

I'm having a hard time finding one in town. If I found a decent one somewhat close by, I will probably scoop it up.

I never find any good cars in this region....

The sooner you learn that, the better off you are when looking. I just pretty much skim over anything local because it's most likely way overpriced, beat up, or both. I've been to NY and Arizona for my cars. Just think of it as a vacation.

I drove 800 miles twice for my Trans Am. Just, with the price of gas, and so much uncertainty of what you will find, it is very discrouraging to make road trips for cars nowadays

                                      Another vote for Subaru.

How often do you plan on going off road with it? Some of the older Subaru GLs came with a low range transfer case. You just can't beat the gas mileage of a 2.5L either, and they are darn reliable.

If you need more clearance than that, you could try a Cherokee. If you are very patient, you should be able to run across one with a 5 speed. In my 2 door 5 speed Cherokee, I get 19-20/25-26 or so (calculated @ 210k on odo). The numbers are a little blurred because it's hard to calculate highway only, going through little towns so often and stuff. Regardless, the 5 speed gets a lot better than the auto in those things.

Audis and VWs are good through snow, but they are pricey and expensive to repair, especially away from areas like the twin cities.

If you really want something unique, Mazda had an awd 626 "rally edition" in the boxy looking car generation (forget which one). Those were pretty sweet through the snow and at ice races and such. Friend of mine had one at his dealership, but I think they are extremely hard to find.

Subaru would be the best choice with current gas prices.

The onlything I do that I would consider off-roading is going down washed out dirt roads during the middle of winter while pheasant hunting.

Well, I've narrowed it down to 3.

I was wondering what you think I should offer these people, or your opinions on the cars. 1st on my list, is the one I think I like the most.

                                          2000 Bonneville SSSEi
Pro's: Pretty fast, really good looking, I like the wheels, most comfort, HUD, Decent MPG, most room.

Cons: somewhat high mileage, most expensive, leather (not the best for DD IMO)
                                          Bonneville

                                          2nd.

Pro's: Looks good, best MPG of the 3, AWD, would be able to go hunting in, handles the best, would be the safest in the snow.

Cons: Slowest of the 3 cars, automatic subaru, kinda pricey, somehwhat high miles.

Cons: Kinda Bland. Not nearly as nice as the bonneville.
