or did i miss understand you

Anyone with standalone or at least programmable fuel and forced induction should give E-85 a shot. It works out to about 104 octane, but costs about as much as regular.

Additionally, E-85 burns cooler and seems to have some other non-octane related detonation resistance.

Boosted cars do especially well on E-85.. you can run significant additional boost and additional spark advance.

Note - this is just what I've read. I've got no direct E-85 experience. But given that we are ND/MN residents, where E-85 is most prevalent.. everyone here with forced induction and good fuel control should give it a shot.

Other notes - unless you've got at least 30% headroom in your injectors, you'll need bigger ones, as E85 requires more fuel per combustion event (10:1 AFR instead of 14:1 for normal gas)

If you learned nothing from this - remember the key take away - E85 is government subsidized 104 octane race gas you can get anywhere in the midwest. 🙂

Deltagates for ya! @ least you dont have their BOV too, cuz it only holds about 10psi.

But, whatever it is..... throw it as far as you can, bury it then pour concrete over it. Too many people have popped motors because of Deltagates...... stick with Tial.

                        Deltagate = pure crap
Theres a reason its cheaper than other wastegates ... you get what you pay for. Tial is what most people run, I'd never trust my motor to a deltagate, ugh.

                        egg07-02-2003, 04:00 PM
i agree, notice that ebay has millions of these for sale. deltagates are known for boost creep.

                        Victorious07-02-2003, 04:12 PM
Yeah John, the turbos on det's have internal wastegates, and the deltagate is an external wastegate.
As noted before, deltagates are prone to boost creep. And they need to be taken apart and cleaned like every three months.
I suggest you just run a TIAL 35 or 38mm. The protech manifold is flanged to fit either wastegate.
and while we are at it we need to get rid of that turbo and hook you up with a more effecient one.
                        😉

I popped a motor with a deltagate. 9psi spring.. spiked about 17psi on me at a 130mph blast down the freeway. 😞

I 2nd that Delta crapers blow. I was tryin to tune a GSR on the dyno one day and it was suppose to be a 6psi srping.... nope call it more like 9psi spike. Lucky he had all the supporting mods and a PFC.

                        Deltagate MK II P/N 10101

Is this the standard wastegate that usually comes with some dets?

                        &

Would it be suitable for a t3/t04b w/ protech mani setup?
Deltagate=crap. Get the new Turbonetics progate, works really well.

yeah, e85 is nice, I heard a story of an evo guy with a large turbo deleting the intercooler and with just e85 fuel and 217+ degree intake temps he saw no knock. I think you'll be ok. But e85 requires anodization of aluminum or steel parts because it corrodes Al.
