1989 murc grand maquis

well me and some of my friends have a grand maquis and are painting it, welding the suspension and doing a half ass exhaust for homecomming at our school...but the 302 absolutly has no power at all...does anyone know how we can pump a little more juice out of it by "free mods" or anything, atleast so it can roll em over..i know its a worthless car to mod..but we just want to mess around with it..so if anyone knows anything let me know asap

Free mods? nothing that will make a significant difference. Maybe a good tune, make sure the plugs are good, etc.

Make sure the plugs are good. Set the timing to 16* with premium in it. Take out the air filter and cut up the air box for free flowing.

HAck the exhaust too. Just run exhaust manifolds, or put some dump offs on it. That will help.

Take off the un-needed pullys. It might help a little. What does welding the suspension do by the way?

no we were gonna weld the shocks...so its up in the air...so it looks ghetto as hell...but the tranny is going so i dont know if we are gonna do it anymore
