I disagree that he should get the death penalty. Life in prison would be sufficient. The government is becoming a murderer also which does not make it right. For those of you that think it is cheaper to just kill him than have life in prison, you are wrong. It actually costs more money to execute someone than let him rot away in prison. The eye for an eye argument is way out of context and it originated from the bible. This is not what the Bible is preaching. Maybe I am just a sally ass and like to forgive people, but there are cases that the death penalty is well warranted.

The reason the death penalty "costs more" is because of all the attorney fees for the appeals. It doesn't cost much money at all to "put someone to death". What most of the people arguing the "cost" issue forget to think about is how much $$$ it costs to keep building more and more prisons to put these scumbags in. A prison fills up so we build a few more. That cost for the building and the employees that work at it never get figured into anything. Let's just keep rehabilitating these people and releasing them on the street so they can go strike again. Makes a lot of sense to me.

I know why it costs more, I just didnt want to type a book. This issue is like abortion and you could argue it for days and still people would disagree on it. Just my opinion that he should not die and this is coming from someone that has experienced a family member being murdered.

It wouldn't cost more if they just brought him in and fried the mutherfucker right away instead of letting him sit on death row for 5+ years. I've never been able to swallow why that happens. And I too have experienced a family member being murdered.

itll be more then 5 years.

the trial took about 20 months alone just to get started.

I think they should televise the actual death on FOX networks. It's right up their alley and the sale of the rights would cover his 5+ yrs on death row while appeals are made.

The reason that there are 5+ years of appeals is to assure we don't put an innocent person to death. There have been cases where it was found that innocent people served time (and some were executed) and later evidence found them to be guilty. I'm not saying he is innocent, there is WAY too much evidence to the contrary for me to believe that, just that I fully understand why you need to afford everyone the right to appeal.

That is true... I've read that into that and seen it happen quite a few times, and most of the time when they find out that the person isn't guilty is only weeks/small amt. of months away from after when he was executed. I even read a story about how a guy was released moments before he was executed and found innocent.. Imagine that being a relief off of your shoulders if you were innocent.. But than with that, comes a big FAT law-suit 🙂 Now into more reading on that; I read into the guy who is the President/Founder of whatever group that supports the death penalty etc. etc.; and he says, if your innocent and found guilty your better off getting the death penalty to be found innocent than not, since your case will get more national attention. However, I think that is not exactly right, since sometimes evidence and such doesn't pop up until sometimes many years later. He may of gotten the death penalty; however, he's in his 50s and will have numerous years of appeals, and will either Die in jail, or get the execution at a really old age anyways. It won't be a closed chapter in the victims family for years to come.. Since the numerous appeals, you'll read about, and etc. etc.
Me personaly, I'm against it. Another interesting story I read which was against why people should be put to death instead of life, was how a guy in Calif. who was serving life in prison; planned out the murders of the people on the witness stand... I don't think that's entirely relevant, since even if the guy was on death row, it would of more likely happened, considering the guy would of still had years to go before put to death.

just drag him behind a semi untill there is nothing left! it may take a couple bucks in fuel but maybe he might suffer a 1/32 of of pain he caused

Most people think he'll suffer more in prison vs. the death penalty

Most people in prison treat sex offender like shit... From what I hear

Yeah I think either way, he was going to die. Like A853 said, prisoners may be scum but they usually HATE rapists/sex offenders and do not hesitate to kill them. I think a good way to get some money back for all the legal fees and such that accumulate from the trials would be to have a public stoning of him. Have bids as to who gets to throw the first stone and the size of the stone. My coworker said he'd pay $500 to throw the first one at him, just think of the money you could rake in doing that? Plus it'd be more painful than just pumping some sleeping juice in him and then killing him in his sleep.

they shouldve given him life. he probably wouldve been killed in prison anyway. win win situation.
