I did some vertical up(hardest mig weld IMO) friday of last week, perfect travel speed, but i wasnt consistant

Awsome job on the verticle up, but If 24" hurt your arm just wait till you get a job somewhere other than DMI and you have to do 5' beads that have to be 3/8 thick. If it burns your hand i sugest getting a heat sheild they work awsome. Do you know what part of dmi your working at, i have a buddy that is a foreman there, working that same shift. If you get sick of DMI witch im sure you will and want to get paid more come over to Buhler, we get really busy during the winter, and you can get all the ot you want then -

thats weird, i have had one start on fire before, and on these 5' passes im welding with 29.5 volts about 3.75-4 wire speed with .52 core wire, none of that hard wire shit. The handle of the gun has gotten so hot that you can even touch it with bare hands -
I couldnt do it, i can do normal wire welding and some oxy actelene and thats it

Update: Got promoted at work a couple of weeks ago, so now I get to do some real welding... this is a quick pick I took today.

I run the Davi roller now so I'm rolling 1" thick , 75'x15' sheets into a circle, and welding the root pass. this is my bitch...( I run a bigger one than this, but theyre made in italy, and I couldnt find many pics on the net)

Costs about 850,000, and costs around 25,000 a day to operate. -
I heart my office chair.
