I hated when I drove a rwd car in the winter. I don't mind fwd but would love awd car or a 4x4 truck. I guess I'd really prefer a 4x4 though.

4x4 is great because of the ground clearance...

awd, then 4x4, then fwd, then RWD for winter fun....for summer fun on the other hand

RWD, then AWD, then 4x4, then wrong wheel drive (aka FWD)

I voted 4x4 because I've had a couple trucks that were 4x4 and I like the fact you can take it out of 4 wheel drive when you don't need it and save the gas. Awd comes in a close second for me my girlfriend has a Rav4 and it's awesome in the snow gets great traction mostly due to the fact that it has absolutely no power

RWD is the worst when it comes to winter if you ask me. Espicially if you have posi-track. They have no control. Your just spinning your tires the entire time. I voted 4x4 because that's what I had in Alaska and I never got stuck.

RWD's not bad at all if you have decent tires. I drove my mustang through 1 winter with craptasticly bald non-performance tires and whenever the car "lost control" i felt like I had more control than I do if my bonneville goes "out of control" now. If I had my choice of a RWD vehicle w/ 4 Blizzaks vs a FWD vehicle with regular all season tires i'd choose the RWD vehicle.

You must be a stupid n00b if you cannot handle driving RWD in the winter. I drove my mustang, which is lowered with all-seasons on my old wheels last winter and was just fine. I could get around anywhere except when there was a lot of snow on the ground. Limited slip is a good thing, just don't nail the gas or you'll end up swingin 'er around and smacking something. For someone who is oblivious to whats around them and their vehicle, then yes, RWD does suck. If you have half a brain and some common sense, then RWD is just fine.

Forget that, RWD is far more difficult to drive than fwd, awd, or 4x4.

Ok, if you have experience, RWD can be driven just fine, but lets be honest tho, it is NOT the best OR easiest...

Drove my first S13 on all season tires for my first winter ever.
                                    Never spun out.

Now driving the S12. Weighs about 400lbs less (~2200lbs), and has a solid rear axle.

So yeah, RWD FTW. To hell with FWD, and AWD is for people that can't drive. :icon_geek:
