Why would anyone ever boost/buiild ITRs or GSRS or B16s if LS's were sooooo much better? they are half the price of a b16 and 1/8 the price of an ITR motor? I suppose a b16 civic Could ass rape a car with a 2JZ, but that doesnt mean a b16 is a better motor than it...

I'd put an LS motor in a hatchback before a b16 any day of the week.
I suppose you think the fast all motor guys still use **** too haha.

but would you rather put a LS motor than a GSR/ITR swap? I agree b16s are pretty much worthless. but all **** motors are not... -

Variable whatever you wanna call it is for driveability, and driveability only. For example, the new Vipers have Variable Valve timing ONLY so they can slip past the EPA's gas milege rules. I will be here all night incase you think of a good point, but all you do is talk about things that have no meaning. Research and Experience OWN JOO!!

I dont know who your arguing with that V-T-E-C is the only thing that makes honda motors good, but you are wasting your time. Read above post for the only thing I attempted to post in this thread... -

None of the M engines do - BMW has stated that thus far, Valvetronic isn't responsive enough for their M car engines - which all rev to 8000+ rpm now

- GSR's car is crazy fast and has too many traction problems to run real fast or race on the street, i think the ricers are jealous

According to BMW, Valvetronic engines have a 15% power (or 15% mileage, depending on which way you swing) advantage over the equivalent motor without valvetronic.
A 15% power boost and complete elimination of the throttle assembly is nothing to sneeze at.
M engines (except the S50 from the USA E36 M3) run ITB's anyhow. IIRC, it takes 200ms for the valvetronic eccentric to adjust through the full range of motion. For most people, that sort of latency is acceptable (hell, most people drive automatics), but for the motorsport engines, BMW apparently decided it was not.
If you're knocking the technology because in its very first iteration, BMW opted not to put it on some of the highest rated, highest performing stock engines in the world, that's cool, but I wonder what automotive engineers would say about your engine designs ?

Since you're being argumentative - how is that honda doesn't use VVT for drivability? Why not just run the hot cam profile all the time?
