Sorry to inform you but posi and limited slip are the same. Just different terminology. Posi is short for positive traction. and in a gm car, there were two different types. The standard clutch and spring type found in most Chevys and the cone type found in most the rest of the GM's. They never offered a factory "Locker" per say or a spool for that matter in GM passenger cars. If that is what you are looking for just put in a lock-rite or similar plus a decent ring and pinion in your car. After owning a couple of Novas in that vintage (one a 69 and one a 72), I know that a good rear end isn't going to be cheap. Between $500.00 and $700.00 is the norm. (and that's used). Remember that 68-72 Novas used the same width rear end as the 67-69 Camaro. That alone makes the rear ends made out of pure unobtanium. For that kind of $$$ just redo your existing rear end and get what you want in there. not to mention it will be NEW and there will be no question if it was beat on before you.

You won't be making a posi you will be making a permanent locker out of it. It will not dissengage around a corner. If you dont have tough axles, you WILL break one. Unless you dont want to drive it too much and when you take a corner, you'll have to creep around it. I would suggest looking into a locking mechanism of some-sort for it. Check these guys out. This is much better for ANY street use and if you break it, your an idiot and shouldn't be on public streets. That's how tough they have proven to be and no clutches to burn out. http://www.powertrax.com/noslip.html
