2JZ or not (No offense Dave, haha), Gary's car delivers power in quite a violent manner. Nobody should judge his car based off of his times at the track from this past Saturday. As I've said, I've ridden shotgun in a fair share of fast cars, and Gary's GN is one of my favorites thus far.
What were you in that was going 200+?

And to mister i can not spell silvia right, a 05 GTO would murder a XLR. Maybe not if it was a V series.

200mph requires at minimum 500hp and a very low Cd. And what peice of roadway would you use to hit that speed? We're talking about probably 60 seconds of WOT acceleration to acheive that speed.
I don't think you'd see 200mph in a mkIV supra on less than 700hp. It's a big heavy car, and not tremendously slippery. Not that 700hp is a stretch for a 2JZ...

Whats with all the f-ing polls LILCHEVY?

I posted the video awhile ago...
Car: T-78 Supra MKIV, HKS 264 cams, dual Supra fuel pumps, 4.5" dp and exhaust, 680+ whp on 93 octane
Tires: 28" tall drag radials (I forget exact dimensions of his tires, but stock rear tires are 255/40/17, Chris still runs stock wheels on all 4 corners.)
Suspension: Stock
Brakes: Stock
Transmission/Diff: Stock 6-speed Getrag and rear differential.
To the best of my knowledge/searching skills, these are the ratios:
Gear Ratios
Gearbox 6 Speed
First 3.827
Second 2.360
Third 1.685
Fourth 1.312
Fifth 1.000
Sixth 0.793
Final Drive 3.266That being said:
The run took place on a 4 mile straight on an interstate w/ no exits for 5 miles. Started brake boosting in 3rd gear, roughly 70 mph. Took each shift at redline, and at 5th gear redline, the speedo was already pegged at 180mph. Shifted to 6th and went another 1k up the tach.
When I edited and posted the video (around a year ago) it was posted as a 70-190mph (est.) run. Chris went back and calculated the variables and said it would've been around 203mph. And for those who want to call bullshit, Chris is one of the most straight-up, honest people I've ever known. He's not a 'stereotypical Supra driver that has 1000whp and still runs 11's.' He is one HELL of a driver, or else I wouldn't have gotten into the car with him on this run.
I know it seems shady since I don't know the exact tire dimensions, but if he's on AIM sometime in the near future, I'll be sure to bring it up.

-
680whp doesn't seem shady for a 200 mph run (i originally suggested 700hp, and didn't specify whp or bhp ;)) I also don't have a problem beleiving the car did it on stock suspension/gearbox.
next time you do it (ha ha), bring along a gps unit to verify the speed

Trust me, the car is pretty much your typical T78 Supra. Complete fuel system, cams, stock bottom end, and gearbox. Considering a stock MKIV Supra is geared for 180mph (I have video proof), I have no doubt that we broke the 200mph mark considering the fact that Chris was running tires that are taller than stock configuration.
Anywho, his main concern isn't what his highest top speed is, it's whether he can out-acclerate his opponent, haha. Considering he can beat modded 600cc bikes w/ pump gas in the tank, I can't think of anything in his setup that would keep him from breaking the 200mph barrier.
Here's pics of the car, btw.

This photo should clarify that it's still on stock suspension and brakes.

Thing is, he bought the car w/ the T78 setup. It's his third Supra (had a JDM 1JZ MKIII and a 98 Quicksilver prior to a pair of VERY fast Camaros) He's tested a few setups since the time I rode along, but at the time, IIRC, the only additions were the 4" BoostLogic DP and HKS CarbonTi exhaust, and a Tilton clutch. He maxxed out the T78 at over 870 whp on race gas. He later put down 991 whp on a stock bottom end. I'm not 100% positive what turbo it was, but I believe it was a GT-47 88mm, and he was shooting for the highest hp 2JZ on stock bottom end. The record being 1017. In all honesty, he's gone through so many damn setups in the last year, that I don't even remember what he's running now.
I could go on all day about the car, but I hate talking about someone else's car like it's my own. I know the car did the mph I said it did. On stock suspension, it was quite a smooth ride, and the stock brakes brought it back down to earth quite well. And I'm sure other Supra enthusiasts will chime in and agree that the factory 6-speed Getrag is one HELL of a transmission. Again, if I see him online, I'll relay the info as he says it, haha.

Yeah, that transmission is like driving a tractor. In my friends well kept car, shifting into first while at a stop produces a nice clunk from the rear of the car

The 2->3 shift on the stock gear ratios is nice though... shift @ 7k rpm in 2nd, land at 5k rpm in 3rd.
My friends car has a TRD exhaust, TEIN RAs (meh), a boost cut controller, and maybe a downpipe, plus RaceLogic. The RL is a hoot to drive since you just bury the throttle coming out of corners and just hear ths "brap-brap-brap". The car is setup for track work, not drag work, and it is a lot of fun. I got to drive it at MidAmerica.
