A Potato's Worst Nightmare

me and some friends had an idea of using compessed air, like have a valve stem on the bottom with a air valve right before the barrel. we thought you could maybe get more power that using an ignition...? anyone ever heard of this

^ I guess a cousin of mine built one like that a couple years, it had a big chamber under it for the air, and a valve for a firing mechanism. I was told it worked better than one using a propellant and spark. I never got to actually see it and dont remember all the specs on it (he told me but it's been a while), as it had blew up on him and I dont think he ever made another after that, and I only go up there once a year. The pieces from it tore up his shoulder pretty bad and neck too, another inch or so and it could have killed him, so start off small and work your way up, lol.

Eventually I plan on making a completely metal one from scraps. Weld it all together and have a remote detonator so I can "safely" use much more explosive materials like gas/propane/gunpowder. Just finding affordable scraps that are the right size is going to be the hard part.

we were gonna test the max psi of the pvc pipe to see what is the maximum safe pressure of the pvc and then do the air powered one

There are some pretty sweet videos of huge pneumatic potato guns blowning stuff up. I did a report on potato guns in like 8th grade. :icon_thumleft: i need to fix my gun it kinda melted.
