Well we had the Turbo trans am in storage for the past 5 years and it was driven some today and yesterday and immediatly a problem was noticed, the car runs and drives perfect otherwise, but when you stomp on it, the turbo spools fast but then the car starts to caugh and not run right when getting into full boost. My boost gauge goes up to 20 psi and when getting into the turbo it easily max's the gauge out.

Have no idea what is quite going on with it, and I lack turbo knowledge to know what is exactly happening. Before when we first got this car it had no issues and when you got into the boost the car was scary fast, can easily run away from a LS1 rair air TA.

Any ideas would be appreciated, the motor and turbo are stock, nothing has been changed since it left the factory.

Find out what stock boost is suppose to be. Check all your vacuum lines that go to the wastegate. Did the boost gauge ever stop and hold still? Test it for vacuum leaks and all that and do basic tune up since it was stored for 5 years. Do not drive it or if you do dont get on it into full boost. You dont want to run lean and make it go KABOOM! cause i know those are rare cars.

I had a problem similar to that when I had the talon. It turned out to be a wastegate issue.

I can guarantee it's not suppose to be making 20 psi, most likely the hose blew off of the wastegate or the wastegate is stuck. Odd are you are hitting some sort of fuel cut. Check/fix wastegate is my guess.

i believe the TA's max out at 15.5 PSI, you say you have not driven some of those cars for 5 years, have they been in a climate controlled storage area???? if not i suspect some of the hoses are going to be dry rotted and you should just go around and change most of them, or like Dave said the hose might have just blown off, and please put some miles on th Turbo TA.

i would definately say its a hose issue. pretty common. BTW if you have any questions go ahead and pm me, i know alot about those cars. Also TTAs are usually abou 16.5psi. also go ahead and run about 3 bottles of fuel system cleaner through that thing, change the fuel filter and please, put in a walbro fuel pump. If you want to do anything else, let me know and ill give you the best options. oh, still have a chip laying here for 36# ford bluetop injectors, and its adjustable.

Finally got to put a walbro fuel pump in my trans am. It now does not have a fuel cut issue. But I have noticed a new problem, it seems to lose power after hitting 80mph, my motor is running perfect and not missing a beat and the turbo holds at about 17psi, but it lacks top end power big time. Any ideas?
