For $129 w/ contract, you can get the Samsung u740. I'm very happy with it. Flip keyboard comes in handy.

I had 4 LG VX-8600's that all failed on me... would not recommend that, the 8700, the chocolate or the Env as they are all based on the same phone.

I know I'm not Jim, but I'll give you my $0.02. I have the RAZR V3M or V3C I don't remember which, and it has been the best phone I've had to date. The battery life is amazing, reception is really good (compared to my old LG). It's super thin and light. I know Bader has the same phone and he also loves his.

My RAZR sucks, worst phone I have had. Need to get the G'zOne. It finally came out with Bluetooth a few weeks ago, haven't had a chance to pick one up yet..

I was thinking about either the newest Razr or the Slvr. I've still got my E815 and it's been a great phone so I've got no issues going Motorola again.

That U740 looked cool but I'm not sure I like the qwerty keypad. Seems like the buttons are awfully small and I really don't text message enough to make it necessary.

im a tech guy and love new tech stuff. the best thing i see for consumers up here is that being the iPhone not offered makes it better for others to use it, test it, and make better revisions later. i understand gsm is old. verizon has been the best service to date for me, but i dont really like the phones being offered. i have the Q and like it. second one i have. first one didn't have any of the updates and couldn't update for some reason so my buddy at verizon gave me a new one. things is good, but since i got a imac last sept, i have been on a windows hate trip since. i hate that my Q is windows. id like something mac user friendly so to speak. i understand their are short falls of the iphone, but that is like any new tech that a company comes out with. takes several revisions to make it right. I have yet to see 1 product that was 100% perfect when it came out the first time. im sure years from now apple will come out with a cdma version, at least hopefully, that is better than the one now and is available on another network. be it 2 years, 5 years, or more. it all is up to them and the contracts that they come out with. i dont understand why AT&T due to the coverage, although they claim it is because it has the best coverage, but from what I have seen on the maps, it doesn't look like it has any good coverage, let alone, compareable coverage to Verizon. I guess we will all see what happens to PDA/Smartphones in the years to come since that is the next wave of tech for every phone.

Anyone who pays upwards of 500 dollars for a phone with a 2 year service contract has some serious issues. There's alot 500 dollars could do, why waste it on an Apple?

everything has a price and because someone is willing to pay so much for something doesn't mean they have issues. your statement is similar to saying "someone paying $80Gs for a viper has some similar issues when they could have bought a vette for less". if you dont wanna pay so much for something is up to you, dont judge people based on what they spend their money on. im not a smoker, but im not going to go around telling people that they have some serious issues spending $5+ a day on cigarettes when they could spend it on something else.

I pooped in my E815 before i sent it back...I HATED that phone with a passion. My RAZR, the only gripe i have it texting, and load times when it gets full, but othere than that, for the main purpose of the phone, it works fantastic....long battery life, good service and still gives me room in my pocket to play with my balls.

ball frisking room would be a huge plus. the antenna on my E815 likes to poke me in the balls when it's in my pocket.

I need a job with one of the verizon providers so I can get shit cheap, maybe try out their internet while I"m at it.

I just axed my 5+ years of Verizon service b/c i was sick of paying too much.

Fargo has GSM coverage but no native GSM providers. If you bought an iPhone, you could use some of its features here in town (but probably not all of them).

I'm currently running unlocked rest-of-world Motorola L6 SLVRs (ebay special) on T-mobile 2 Go pre-paid pre-activated SIMs (another ebay special). Coverage seems fine everywhere in town.. and once you cross into minnesota coverage is great... drive from fargo out past brainerd for the july 4th weekend and had fantastic coverage even at our lake place.. better then verizon and sprint.

everyone has differing priorities.. i wanted no contract, and no bullshit.. and no restrictions. I can run any GSM handset I want to.. and nobody at any phone company even knows my name.. i'm paying way less money now for service that seems to work better and for handsets that are cheaper and more interesting (there are no subscriber locked features on my phone.. and certainly not any of verizons bullshit firmware or SEEMs)
