Napa parts blow
-
I had a Napa reman alternator on my Mustang for a little over a year. At the track I popped a fuse for the fuel pump, ecu and igntion which is why my car stalled at the end of the track. I then had to replace my alternator on Sunday as the Napa one died. I did a little digging today, put 2 and 2 together and it turns out that the voltage regulator is on the same circuit as the one that blew on me at the track.
Long story short, Napa alternator done fucked me.

Remans FTL!!! Cheap alternator for a cheap ford of course its going to break lol

So, did u ever bring that in to Napa or find out what the warranty is on it. That's why you buy lifetime warranty parts, if they break you get a free replacement. It's suprising how many people are too cheap to spend the couple dollars on a part that has lifetime instead of 1 year warranty. I dont know bout other stores but at Autozone we have 3 brands of parts, the Valucraft is usually cheap with 1 year warranty because they only fix what's wrong with it. The Duralast is remanned but they replace most parts with new and have lifetime, and the gold is brand new with lifetime...it's funny watching people come in with the cheap ones a little over the warranty and have to buy another one, instead of buying the better ones from the start. Moral of the story, if u can get lifetime warranty parts spend the money and do it....

IIRC it is a one year warranty. I always bought my parts from Napa as they give me good prices, great service and are close. I never really had a problem with their stuff until just recently. I've been buying my stuff from Autozone now as they lifetime warranty rocks. The Duralast Gold brake pad warranty FTW

I hope you do get them covered when they do finally need replacement otherwise you will look like an ass at the counter trying to get them to warranty an item that is a wear part. Only reason some shops offer lifetime warranty on pads is just to get you to come back in for other work and pay for the labor to have new ones put on.

I bought a premium alternator last year from napa and two days later i heard a noise coming from my engine. I got home and took off my hood and the lock washer and nut that holds the assembly together on the shaft had sheared off allowing the pulley to free spin! When i took in in to get warrantied they asked me if i had loosened the nut for any reason. Yup! you caught me i just love replacing alternaters(i know they are easy enough). NAPA SUCKS!!!!!

The only problem part i have gotten from napa was an alternator

I never have a problem with Napa parts but then again the owners are friends of ours.

And for the most part we will warranty them if they wear out...I already asked the boss what would happen if I beat the shit out of stuff like brakes if I use them auto-xing, etc. Or about breaking cv shafts and stuff and they have a lifetime warranty and it will be replaced. We're pretty good with stuff like that, unless it's just the person's dumb fault like dropping and breaking something.

We're pretty good with stuff like that, unless it's just the person's dumb fault like dropping and breaking something.it all depends on the place that installs them. if the customer installs it on their own, that is one thing, they are doing their own labor. but if they bring it in and have a shop do it, the warranty is completely different, no matter were the part comes from. in that case, the warranty is up to the shop, not the place that they get their part.
if we do brakes on a car and a year later the pads have broken up (I have seen this dozens of times) with no indication that something major caused it (like an accident), then it is not a problem for use to warranty them. But if they come in and the pads are worn out completely, then warranty is just like it is from the dealer when you buy it off the lot, it is an wear item and it isn't not covered. This is what I was trying to get at.
Tell me this, what is the difference for having a lifetime warranty on brake pads under normal use, and a drive belt (although there isn't such a thing) under normal use? You warranty brake pads that were bought 3 1/2 years ago and have gone through the pads with no indication that their was a malfunction? Or do you just go ahead and replace them......same with the belt, starting to crack up showing that it is at its end of use. Now if the pads broke up and fall apart with a lot of life left in them, that is where the lifetime warranty would be acceptable, if their was no outside influence on them. If the belt started to fall apart, shred up, or even split at the seam, again, acceptable for warranty. Not if it is old and at end of use.

Working at napa I see tons of stuff come back on warranty and reman alternators is easily tops. They do have 3 years on them so most of the time it is still under warranty. Problem is the cheap reman raylocs only replace the problem in a alternator core. So if the voltage reg is bad they don't put new brushes in. The only bad line that napa carries is reman alternators. Get a lifetime or even a new one at that.
Napa has lifetime pads too and I believe that it is also a selling point. When your pads go out people think it is a "service interval" so many maintenance parts are bought with them. Don't get me wrong though, our top grade brakes are excellent. Many shops around town won't put anything less on a car. They are way above OE.

They replace all the common wear items in the three year warranty... Brushes, regulator, bearings, rectifier, and diode asembly. The difference between them and the lifetime is that the lifetimer's usually have EVERYTHING NEW exept the case. The quality of the parts between the two is the same sa well.

I really have a tough time believing they replace everything. Bearings are pretty easy to find out if they are bad.
