To start off I have HP laptop with vista. This morning when i turned it on it asked if i wanted to install windows updates which I did. It was still installing when i left so i let it go. Got home a bit ago and turned it on and have no sound like music and stuff doesnt work. All the stuff with vista that makes noise works. When I scroll over my volume controll it come up with no Audio output device installed.

Where can I dowload something so i can have one and get my sound back.

    PM me for:
    Sandblasting(I use glass beads)
    Diesel repairs or performance products.

If possible, do a system restore to an earlier point than the time that you installed your updates. That should override any stuff that could have done this. Then bring it to a smart fella and have him figure it out.

Look in device manager (Start->run->devmgmt.msc) and see if it thinks there's an audio device installed.

Also there are two services called "Windows Audio" and "Windows Audio Endpoint Builder". Check out the services list (Start->run->services.msc) and see if those are started/startable.

Also if you go into windows update, it will show you which udpates were installed. Maybe one of them was a new HP audio driver? Have you tried rebooting?

Uninstall Vista, there is no need for IPv6 right now, Microsoft better realize this and stop peddling there erroneus crap onto the general public.

And boo to Windows Server 2008, had the beta (2nd release) it was terrible

I looked at my update history and it showed that the audio updates had failed. I redid the updates and problem solved WOOT!
