These fuckups living in the shitty state of California never cease to amaze me with their utter bullshit they continually spew from the state. Check this out...

San Francisco Moves to Boot U.S. Navy's Blue Angels
    By Kimberly West CLOUT INDEX
    Published Jun 08, 2007

San Francisco peace advocacy groups are calling for a halt to the U.S. Navy's Blue Angels annual aerial show that's been a San Francisco Fleet Week tradition, as well as a huge money maker for the city of San Francisco, for years.

The Examiner reports that CodePink, Global Exchange and Veterans for Peace, Chapter 69, are working with Supervisor Chris Daly on a Board of Supervisors resolution to address concerns over the Blue Angels.

Daly told The Examiner he is considering a call to halt the flyovers because, he said, "they seem dangerous and unnecessary." Daly said he plans on introducing the resolution as early as Tuesday, but is still drafting the language. A resolution is not legally binding, but states a board position.

KCBS spoke with one of the anti-war groups about their efforts to shut down the Blue Angels.

"They're weapons of mass destruction and there's really nothing, I think, about them that people should think of as being good or desirable," said Paul Cox with Veterans for Peace. "In a time where we've got a war going on in Iraq, it brings images of the kinds of death and destruction these things rain down on people around the world."

The Blue Angels flying overhead during the Fleet Week festivities has been the pinnacle of Fleet Week since 1981. The Blue Angels bring approximately $4 million into San Francisco during Fleet Week weekend. The San Francisco mayor's office is opposing the legislation to give the Blue Angels the boot. Daly has promised to introduce the legislation on Tuesday.

Edward Leonard, long-time chair of Fleet Week told KCBS San Francisco that, "without the Blue Angels flying overhead, the other activities do not amount to much."

"I think this kind of thing would be a shame. A lot of people love the Blue Angels and love Fleet Week and it would be very distressing for them if it wasn't here," he said.

Leonard also told KCBS San Francisco that other objections raised by the anti-war groups, such as noise pollution and safety, in an attempt to block the Blue Angels are also unmerited.

"The FAA approves all their maneuvers. Most of the difficult maneuvers and high turn maneuvers are done in an air show box over the Bay that's kept clear of vessels and people."

This is not the only example of what some cite as San Francisco's anti-military bias. In 2005, San Francisco's Board of Supervisors voted against docking the WWII/Korean War-era USS Iowa as a floating museum at the Port of San Francisco, according to SFGate.com. This was after the local Congressional delegation secured $3 million to move the Iowa from Rhode Island to San Francisco because a study had shown the ship would bring in 500,000 visitors a year.

Code Pink has launched an on-line petition calling for support to block the Blue Angels from Fleet Week. The anti-war group is citing public safety, air pollution and fuel waste as the primary reasons for their objection to the participation of the U.S. Navy Blue Angels in San Francisco Fleet Week. So far, there are approximately 500 signatures on the petition.

Could you imagine how much good people like these could actually do if they re-directed their energy and focus? So stupid.

The next flyover the Angels do over San Fran, they should "accidentally" drop a couple nukes. I swear that city is the worst in the US, we'd be better off without it.

It's to the point that there IS a difference between a liberal and a democrat. Liberals are to Democrats as Bush(NeoCon) is to Republicans, the labels more and more represent the extremist viewpoints. Saying this is the typical democrat is like saying Bush is the typical republican.

Things like this just piss me off. I can't believe there's actually veterans that are against the blue angels. I don't know if I dare say it, but that's just anti-american.
The Blue Angels represent what's best about america, freedom. I consider it a privilege to see them and am glad I got to see them this year at the fargo air show.
I know all the other veterans and those currently serving will stand up for them so I don't think there will be too much to worry about.

whats even worse is they're trying to boot the ROTC academy out of SF as well, that would be such a shame i wouldnt know what to say. God forbid someone in SF gets taught respect, dignity, and moral judgement.

When I was a kid, the local TV channels would "Sign Off" at night (instead of playing infomercials forever). They'd run this video loop that was like a bald eagle flying infront of a waving american flag, and F16s flying over the grand canyon, and i don't remember what else.

I just remember those F-16s flying over the canyon... and the rippling flag.. and thinking "fuck yeah.. America is awesome".

I don't care if it was propoganda or whatever.. it actually made me feel good about uncle sam, and the people that bust their ass to keep my lame ass safe, and alll the shit we have here to be thankful for.

You rarely see that kind of thing any more. It's easy for me to get caught up in being critical, cynical, etc about our country, our leaders, our neighbors, etc. I think all car guys are "jet guys" just a little.. there's the common interest in going stupid-fast riding a machine that will kill you if you mess up... so of course during Air Sho week when the Angels are practicing here I love hearing them booming across the sky.

What surprised me is when my wife was like "you know.. I like hearing the jets fly over head... some people get upset about it i guess.. but it makes me feel good to know that they're up there."

I think a lot of people deep down are proud of their country, the military, etc, but you rarely hear about it.. its not out there any more.. its not "popular". I think that unfortuneately, cynicism and anti-americanism is what's fashionable and even people that should know better (like me, for instance) get lulled into going along with it at times.

It's pretty ridiculous that the most intelligent discourse on the whole subject I've seen recently was "team america: world police".

                            America. FUCK YEAH.
