parker, are you guys wet enough that you're stuck pulling all the trucks?

Boss and I were talking about that this evening. They're getting by here but he was over by casselton and they're wet enough that they're hooking up with the cat as they pull into the field.

Not a single time. It wasn't that bad out in the field last night. One of the approaches got a little slick towards the end of the night.

we havent pulled a truck this year...... yet

the funny thing about it, is if you look at most of the tires that other farmers are running.... they are a street/road tire.... and thats mostly because of that the tire salesmen talk them into buying them because of less rolling friction = less fuel cost (more MPG).... but they dont think about what most trucks are used for .... in feild use.... the tires we run on ours basically look like tires that you would run on a pickup you go off-roading with.... thus the reason why it is wet and we were still able to run.... a couple of nights ago we were 1 of 2 farms going..... the other farm was pulling trucks 🙂

Oh Dubbsy, somehow the plastic tube hanging from the lifter got into the bed of my truck when I was pulling up to it. I still managed to load straight. 😄

                      plastic tubes? huh?

I haven't been a part of anything beet hauling in probably close to 15 years and I don't remember anything like that...

normal farmers stay out of muddy fields 🙂
One of our old tandems has some meaty ass tires on the driver axle... spends most of it's time sitting in the yard. But yeah, we're never in the field when it's wet anyway (unless it's last year when we tried to retrieve the trucks off a muddy road after an inch of rain)

I remember when my dad got my uncle's triple stuck hauling beets many years ago (the last time I had any experience with beets - I was a kid in the passenger seat). They ended up having to drop the gate off and unloaded it with a backhoe where it sat.

That's why I was questioning using n00bs. Driving a 65000lb+ truck is NOTHING like driving what most of these n00bs are used to driving.

as long as you have that down chris, come drive my tractor for me so I can go to Fargo tomorrow.
