Made one pass at the track today, on the top end the car just fell on it's face so I let off and limped it back to the pits. Diagnosis at the track was no compression in cylinder #4. I got home tonite and pulled the valve cover and discovered the culprit. Either 1. the valve shim got spit out and then broke or 2. the valve shim broke and then got spit out. :icon_puke_r: So anyway the shim piece got wedged under the cam and smashed the alum part of the head enough that the lifter got stuck down. Hopefully the valve didn't hit the piston. No idea why this happened, was only spinning 8200rpm, have crower valve springs, etc. Just a fluke I guess.

chipped cam and smashed alum around the lifter:

Part of the shim that I've found so far:

Gonna fix and go back out tomorrow, or calling it quits for the year?

Even though the Blurr was only out for a couple of weekends, we did get Dave licensed in his new drag car, which was really nice to get out of the way. You all can look forward to some really fast times next year. I think both Dave and myself will get our cars "tuned" on the dyno for next year and come out swinging....not dicken around with crappy wideband units. 😞 🙂

Looks like Dave goes out with a 9.03 pass! ( not as bad as my 9.00 though last year)

So close to an 8! Looks like skip 8's and go for 7's next year. 🙂

That sucks dave. YOu two had a good season I would say non-the-less. I wish I coulda made it out to watch you two.

My probe is fast. How fast? Line up next to me at the track and find out.
I can pull my probe faster than most ricers can race. haha

Too bad, i was hoping it was just ignition issues. Thanks for letting me use your air compressor, i woulda been screwed without it.
