This place sucks... Really...

Yes I agree to.
Heres how it should go...
Split it up to a car talk/tech/information section. Appoint a worthy moderator or admin. Tufte, GSR, Blake whoever Jim thinks is up to task to moderate it.
Make a bullshit/casual lounge section. Anything goes basically. Jim will moderate it as he already said. So if you got a problem with it, don't go there and complain so we're all happy. You have the right to visit any part of the site for input, but if you complain in this section, you're wrong because you know why it's there.
When we click on new posts, it'll link us to either the bullshit, cartech sections or both, you choose.
I also have an idea about modding our own made thread. If you want it to keep on track do it yourself. PHP should have a certain way of the thread starter being able to delete off topic posts to keep the thread on track. Just make sure they can't see IP's, or anything an admin can see. Just make it click on posts you want out, and simply selecting delete.

I think alot of people on here make good points about the website as it is now, and where they would like to see things go. Here is where I am coming from... To an extent, it does not bother me if people want to heckle each other back and forth. I understand that is part of being friends with people, I mean ask anyone who really knows me I love giving people shit. The only thing that bothers me is that when people on here turn a legitimate thread (classifieds, or a a good question), and turn that into something it shouldn't be. If you want to give people shit, give them shit, but make a seperate thread in the off topic, or run your mouth area. However, some times it just gets to be too much. I think that all the members on the board are here because they want to be. Some are bored, and some just want to keep up on what's going on in the fargostreet world. I think if everyone would just take a moment to step back, and look at it from both perspectivies, and we could all have a mutual respect for each other it would go a long way.
To summarize a long post. I think that we should all try to start over again. Guys who don't know alot of people on here, post an introduction, and let's try that with a fresh slate, one in which we all maintain a professional level of respect for one another. If we could do that... we could avoid 99% of the problems we have.
And Jim I would be more then willing to help if you need it.

If you post bullshit on a topic and it gets deleted, dont get pissed off. It's kinda like potty traing your dog. We all need a little potty training. This is not directed towards anyone that has recently posted. It's turning out to be a hot topic and I can't keep up.

www.somethingawful.com has two sections of there chatting:
FYAD ( Fuck You And Die )
GBS ( General Bullshit )
Now FYAD is where all the non serious pretty much un moderated posting goes on. Flame wars are welcome here.
GBS is very moderated and controlled. Shit does not stand on this forum, it is VERY serious. A serious problem gets a serious answer ( Not to say there is no joking, but you can have fun well being serious. )
And Somethingawful run like a machine they make money off there site! The only reason I bring them into this is becasue they have a very successful web site ( 15,000+ members at $10-30 a pop ) So they might be a good example.

I also would be willing to help in any way I can. Even if it means just moderating my own little section of the classifieds.

I can mod the run your mouth section

Well tufte I appologize for coming off so harsh on ya dude, but basically I got sick of you jumping on people for saying they wanted a bodykit, or they wanted street glow. Or when I posted about a supercharger and turbo kit for my car and listed the dyno proven numbers it posted for my car, and the times some SVT's have posted with the mods I talked about.
It wasnt just you but a couple of other guys... basically people that can afford to have things done to their cars which I cannot right now as I spend my money on other toys right now. I was basically stating proven points along with others doing the same... or their own personal opinion and they and I were cut down for that and I was called a bench racer.
I have a lot of respect for you and the guys at SLS for doing what you do every day... wish it was me doing that and had that kind of knowledge. Im just sick of people thinking they know everything about everything and cutting other people down because they talk about parts for their cars and what their cars are capable of. I know I have a slow car, but its un-modified as of yet and I know what its capable of.
Im just as guilty as the next guy, and totally agree with you the board needs to mature in certain parts. But we should be allowed to talk shit and get on each other in the run your mouth section of the forums. They should be moderated to a certain extend, and moderators should try and keep the bullshit out of the threads that arent off topic.
So once again tufte I do appologize to ya, but in a small or large way everyone here is to blame for the problem.

Ok, I'm joining the party WAY late and I didn't even read half the text of half the posts...I stopped when Jim said there were 16 people viewing and he wanted more input. So input I'll give.
I think I posted quite a bit of what I'm about to say in a different thread but I'll repeat it here since it seems to be relevant.
First I should say that although I've never owned a car faster than the one I have now (runs high 15s), I still enjoy tuning and modding. But I've always been dissappointed with the car crowd in the midwest and had all kinds of problems meeting people who were also into cars. So...when I found the site back in July or so I was pretty pumped up.
After finding the site I made the mistake of just introducing myself and PM'ing Jim about being a local guy and trying to get into the protected areas without lurking for a while to get a feel for the site. After about a week I was feeling pretty stupid because I realized that the site wasn't what I thought it was. It was loaded with people that always have something to prove. The maturity level was much lower than I was used to (I'm OLD by this boards standards, I know of only one other my age here) seeing on altimas.net. The amount of bickering, intentional or not, reminded me of my Z24 days on the phobia mailing list, and if you know what that list is you know the amount of crap on that list. I ended up creating my own mailing list that is still in use today because of the crap there.
Ok, so what do I want from this site? I want this to be a place where people talk cars, the projects they are working on, cars of the month, a registry so people can post their car with pics and mods performed. And it would be nice if they could do this without someone coming along and saying it's lame, stupid or pointless. A site that when someone new to town, or out of town, finds out about it they can look and think, "wow, that's some cool stuff and these are cool people." A site that is respectable and IS respected by the local shops in town to the point where they want there name to appear on the site. It makes sense right? Their target market is RIGHT HERE but it's so laden with crap they don't want to be associated with it.
So yeah, that's what I'd like to see from the site. I'll never own the fastest car but it's a blast to help others build their cars up and swap ideas. Would I moderate a sight like this? Sure but it'd be a lot of work

havent really thrown much of an opinion in here...cause i dont know alot of you persoanlly and cant level with you on the situation....but i think what jim is gonna do should work. And i have no complaints about the board personally i'm glad its here.
