CHUCK!!!!!HELP...1991 caprice. (large wiring diagram pics)
-
So my boss has a 1991 caprice classic w/ the bose system in it. The bose amp took a shit and instead of getting a bose amp a local shop (not going to name names but they see a lot of sound) sold him on a clairion 4 ch. amp and told him it was possible to use the stock wiring and some RCA's to bypass the factory amp. He has since then cut a pair of RCA's in half to expose the wiring and he wants me to get it all wired up. He already has the power, gnd, and remote wired to the amp using the factory wiring and it does power up so I'm not worried about that part (at this time).
Here are the wiring diagrams for the stereo wiring...

Now I figure (if i'm right) it should be wired like this:
Green RF feed - black RCA #1
Blue RR feed - Red RCA #1Tan LF feed - Black RCA #2
BRN LR feed - Red RCA #2Then run the RCA's to the aftermarket amp.
What do I do with the shielding wires inside the RCA cables?
What do I do with the white "Audio Common" wire from the factory wiring? Now leaving the amp I have this:
L front (+) - tan
L front (-) - GryR front (+) - Lt Grn
R front (-) - DK GrnR rear (+) - wht
R rear (-) - PnkL rear (+) - wht
L rear (-) - Pnk** there is also a black "drain" wire on the rear speakers what should I do with that?**
Please help me get this figured out (if possible). I told my boss I was willing to put in an aftermarket deck, new amp, new wiring, new speakers...EVERYTHING. But that other shop told him he didn't have to so now I'm stuck in this mess.

if the pic is cut off on your comp like it is here (at school) then the top pic has a ground cut off, and the bottom pic the two wires that go off to the right are also grounded. HMM, i noticed it cut off all of my words too, so I'll quote it incase it does it for anyone else...

Ok.....here is what I would have done....right or wrong....I would have purchased a line output converter AND an amp kit (factory wiring probably won't be sufficient for power) ...and then rewired to the speakers.

I didn't want him to go this way, but this is the way he wants it. Any ideas on my questions?
As far as the line output converter goes, I could probably talk him into it if there is still a chance or fixing his current wiring (he cut the pigtail off of the factory wiring but I could probably still solder it back together if I need to). Wanna walk me through that process?

Bose stereos suck anywayThere, fixed that for ya.
But to answer DarkElvis's ? get a line output convertor and then run RCA's from the converter to the new amp...bypass old amp entirely...and use the speaker outputs from it as leads from the new amp to the speakers.

so the rf,lf,rr,lr feeds from the deck to the amp go to the converter, then rca's from the converter to the new amp? am i on the right track?
any idea what to do with the black "drain" wires for the rear speakers or the white "audio common" from the deck that used to go to the factory amp?
