theres a chance i missed this when it started or something but whats up with the little green rep points by our location? how do they work and what are they for?

I added one reputation point in favor of you.
Basically, they are for telling others the level of respect/knowledge/etc... that each person brings to the board. It's a way of sorting out the bullshit/troll types. Click on the little icon that looks like a grey triangle with an "x" and checkmark inside it and you can give/take rep points from someone.
