Aren't you able to get a better financing rate with a new car rather than a used car?
-
Not too sure; I went thru a Local bank... Made my payments a lot easier
It also depends on your credit/history on what type of interest rate you get. -
The thing is that we want to do a trade-in and that kind of cuts us down and where we can get the car from but I have found some 04's that were still on dealer lots.

For me; insurance isn't bad $250 a mo. or so.HOLY CRAP! Not trying to whore this but $3k a year for insurance???? How's your driving record and what is your age? I just got off the phone to my insurance agent the other day complaining that my insurance went up to $90/month for 2 vehicles (02 WRX & 99 Rav4) full coverage w/ 250 deductibles (I know, I'm old and married, but the most I ever paid was like $100/mo for my brand new neon in 96 when my driving record sucked and I was 21 and single) -
Right now it is about $800 for 6 months for my Talon and I only have one speeding ticket. Good student really helps out with the insurance. I dont think a SRT-4 would be much more than my Talon but hey I could be wrong.

My bad I don't know exactly what I am paying.. I believe it's $1500 a yr or something.. Going to school so my mom pays it... It wasn't much more than what I was paying for my avenger. -
You taking yours to the track this year, Kuvas?
-
Maybe... Depends on if I'm up here or move down to the cities....
-
ahh come on we need to get more people out there to make it fun, the nights i was there you would get done racing, get in line and 2 races later you were staging again... nothing like last year or 2003 i guess when the lines were huge. Probably saved me burning a clutch at the track having to wait in line.

If, for arguments sake, if the used car is 4000 less than the new one is the difference in interest rate on the new car low enough to offset the difference?
When I bought my Mazda6 back in June '04 I was given the choice of a $1500 rebate or 1.9% financing. I went with the rebate because it came out to be the better deal over the length of the loan vs the increased interest rate.
Also, FWIW, I guess credit unions will give the best interest rates.

I would suggest getting a 2004 over a 2005, for a couple of reasons. For one, the 2004's still have the 7yr/70k mile powertrain warranty, as the 2005's dropped it down to a 3yr/36k mile warranty. Also the Mopar staged upgrades aren't working on the 05's, something to do with a different pcm.
As far as insurance goes, I have State Farm and I'm paying about $110/month for my car. I'm 20 and have 2 vehicles insured.
The only mods that wont' void the warranty is Stage 1, I believe. Something like Stage 2 or Stage 3 will void it, but only if it causes the problem. Simple mods like exhaust shouldn't cause any problems.
The changes from '03 to '04 were a LSD and some bigger injectors. There were no changes from '04 to '05, except they dropped the Electric Blue Pearl color, and added the Orange Blast color.
These cars take to mods pretty easily, and with the Staged upgrades, everything is pretuned, so its basically hassle free.
A great source of information is here. That or you can send me a pm and ask me if you have any questions. I have nothing to do after work, so I basically try to learn as much as I can about these cars, to a point.
Hope I have been of some help.

This car was supposed to be my GF's but we have decided against getting one because of our current financial instability.
