Stolen macbook

Well we threw a killer party last night and just my luck, some dick stole my laptop. We had a ton of people just packed in our basement and had a separate room where my buddy was dj-ing with my laptop and his turn tables. Well, somehow during the night somebody managed to steal my laptop w/o us realizing the music stopped or changed. Now I'm out $1500 and a $275 minor/noise violation.
I know it's my fault and all that stuff, but I was wondering if there is anything I can do to pursue getting my laptop back or recovered. I thought I heard once about macs having a sort of gps built in so they could be tracked down, but I called and talked to a guy that told me otherwise (he sounded sorta dumb though). Anyways, any help or advice would be great.
Also, please be aware if you see or hear of somebody trying to sell a laptop. If I get this back I would be willing to reward the person that helped me find it very much. The laptop robbed me about $1500, so I'd rather be our $100-200 for having somebody find it instead of just having to buy another one.

Doesn't that just make you feel awesome? Nice enough to hold a gathering for a lot of people and someone has to be disrespectful like that. We used to hide all the DVDs and computers in the house when we would have parties for this reason(although it looks like the computer was actually being used!). I know I've had movies walk away, but never a computer!

Yea this was our first and last "big" party. It was a beach party theme so we went all out and decorated n shit too. Spent $200 on 10-12 gallons of jungle juice alone. Then another $60 or so for decorations n stuff. Now add on the $275 ticket that I stepped forward and took so other ppl wouldn't get in trouble and $1500 for the laptop. I'm f-ed
I've made a craigslist post telling ppl I'd reward them if they helped me find it, but I dont really know any other fargo/morhead based forums to post up on. lmk if you have any advise.

That sucks dude, did you tell the police? I imagine they might have been a little unsympathetic as they wrote out your citations, but they still need to be in the loop. If you have stuff like receipts and serial #'s they double your chance of finding it. Check the pawn shops if you can prove its yours they have to give it back and the cops will then have some info to chase down, they might be that stupid.

I figured i'ma just drink my sorrows away. fuck my life right? anyways, i got an email from a guy on craigslist telling me that somebody had just posted a laptop fs today! so I emailed that guy and told him I'm very interested and have cash in hand. If i meet up with him and find out its mine ima fuck him up! ok maybe I'm just sayin that cus im drunk, but cross your fingers that there is hope.

Good luck but don't do anything stupid prove its yours, document that this guy has it, get some info from him then call the cops.

There's a ton of macbooks for sale in the cities so it might be hard to track it there. I guess I'll just keep crossing my fingers. Please continue to keep an eye out.
