    Nice firepit

Yup, love the high ceilings in the garage...now to order that lift...

As for the fire pit, the one they originally had installed was in violation of fire code (too close to dwelling or something) and they had to fill it. Not a huge deal as I have a fire pit already.

Why not? Based on household income, property taxes, lower specials, school district, etc... WF made the best financial and educational choice of the local community.

And yes, my back yard opens up to Rendezvous Park, the school (Aurora) is about 1.5 blocks away so Jaiden won't have too far to go once he starts school.

Now if I could just get them to stock that pond in the park with some fish I'd be set!

Trust me...property taxes are much cheaper in minnesota and make up for the income tax difference. Plus Minnesota schooling is much better than ND. Way to stay on the wrong side of the river 🙂

IDK Brian, I ran the numbers and it was pretty close between the two...and the specials were higher in Moorhead vs Fargo for a similar house.

Property taxes and state income taxes are close to a wash depending on the value of your home. If you don't own a home you are crazy to live on the MN side of the border, you are just giving money away.

Not sure what facts you used to try to say that MN schools are better than ND. 2007 testing stats don't show that:

              ND Reading proficiency - 78%
              MN reading proficiency - 69%

              ND Math proficiency - 77%
              MN Math proficiency - 60%

              ND SAT average - 1195
              MN SAT average - 1189

homeschooling makes school districts irrelevant. Government mind-control-camp (aka public school) FTL.

I have no idea why property taxes are so high here. Other places I've lived in the US don't have "special assessments" and have lower property taxes. I never figured out what all the money grabbing was about here in ND.

I blame all of the above on the greedy republicans we have running the state and corrupting our children.

Moorhead sucks and so does West Fargo:icon_rabbit:

Aren't WF property taxes the highest of the 3 cities? It seems that way from the homes I've looked at. Fargo p. taxes are twice that of Moorhead, and WF p. taxes are 3x that of Moorhead.

$700 difference in property taxes between the two w/ similar properties.....WAAAAY lower specials in WF than the others in neighborhoods that I want to live in.

I don't know what you looked at but I had equal specials on my house in Moorhead vs. one in Fargo and I'm saving over 3k/year in property tax plus the homestead tax credit. That combined more than made up for the increase in income tax.... plus I got a hell of a deal on my house.

~$1500 property tax difference...the specials were much lower where I bought this house than for a similar property in Moorhead.

Income tax came out to where I pay less in ND...not quite enough to make up the $1500 difference, but more than enough to keep me in ND where I'd prefer to live anyway.
